70 runs for Smudger. Decent enough start to the season for him.

I see Bates is playing, so I assume that Wheater picked up some sort of injury in the last match

A fair day after being put in, shame we lost Smith just before the end. Did they go off at the end for bad light because stumps was three balls through an over. If so the last wicket was even more galling.

Yep, bad light. I'd imagine it was more because Derby took the new ball, and hence had their quicks back on, as opposed to the light actually suddenly getting worse over the course of three balls.

Good point, still galling though.

"Will Smith smashes 70" reads SkySports News, I'd hardly say he "smashed" it.

Compared to Adams innings he did!

The question now is, what do we do in the morning..we would need to score a run a ball for 30 overs to get maximum batting points which won't happen.

My guess would be let Abbott and Gatting play their normal game, and then let Slug and Coles have a hit.

Think I'd rather Gatting scored some more runs, than played his normal game.

He might just need one decent score to boost his confidence.

Listening to the radio, he was lucky to make the end of the day. Dropped on 14 and hanging his bat out to dry numerous times with little footwork.

What is Gatting's normal game anyway? To look clueless at the crease before getting out is how I see it but I hope he can prove me wrong this morning.

Best day of the week is the weather forecast today so let's hope the match can really move on - a quick 150 runs & at least 5 Derby wickets would do me!
Icing on the cake would be a Bournemouth win at Ipswich but I think that's very unlikely!
Not too many players according to Playfair Cricket Annual currently playing CC cricket with 10000 FC runs - Carberry is one of course - so let's hope Adams gets there in his second innings. Weather permitting & and if Hants need to bat again!
