In 1971/2, New Zealand toured the West Indies for a five test series.

The result - 0-0, all five matches drawn.

Has that happened before, or since?

Not sure. But the windies have won 1-0 in a 6 matches series v India before, and may have repeated it against England in 08/09 (was the cancelled test counted in the 5 match series?)

So 5 draws has been done since. Think the series v India was 1979

That's 5 draws, but not in a 5 test series. The WI/NZ series ended up 0-0.

and why the random Pakistan flag in the quote...?

Apparently its happened another three times according to Cricinfo. The most bizarre is a back to back series between Pakistan and India during the 50s -early 60s where all 10 consecutive tests across the 2 x 5 match series ended in draws.

Scrolling through the series, the first in Pakistan contains low scores. In fact ridiculously low scores not to provide results, but then a quick look at the scoring rates provide a quite bizarre defensive approach from both teams. Run rates over 100s of overs routinely under 2 per over. The series in India in 1960 contains higher scores, but the same sleep inducing willingness to score. One Indian innings lasted 129 overs for only just over 180 runs.

Id have to conclude these must have been the most boring series ever played. And I guess with Independence and political issues between the two, maybe a unique example of teams so scared of being torn apart for losing, neither actually tried anything to force a result. And just kind of spent 50 consecutive days doing nothing

Interesting Sussex, thanks for the effort.

Yes, if Ind/Pak played a series like this these days, cries of fixing would abound. I can see your point of fear of losing winning out.

Australia pull out if their tour of South Africa citing Covid concerns. I believe that now confirms New Zealand's place in the test championship final

England might have got lucky. A week after leaving SL, a few people in th SL camp test positive for Covid, throwing their series in WI into serious doubt.

Ridiculous scenes in Napier as a rain-affected game sees the Bangladesh total change a few overs into the game. It seems that the bods got their sums wrong and needed to rethink. Not ideal.

Detracts from a strong showing from Glenn Phillips who always looks strong when I see him. He got 58 of 173 runs for NZ. Bangladesh weren't at the races; however rain and administration were against him.

My YouTube algorithim suggested to me a live stream of Namibia Over-50s vs Zimbabwe Over-50s today.

Largely what you would expect. Some pretty average players with one or two guys who, I would expect, have been semi-pro at some point. A guy called Wayne Parham for Zim caught the eye with 43 off 50 - however that is an indicator of the pace of the game. He used to be Zimbabwe convenor of selectors so has been part of the system for a little while it seems.

Sachin Tendulkar has had to go into hospital as his covid infection worsens. Word is that it's precautionary, but I remember when we were told the same thing about Boris

Keep fighting Sachin :box

Get better soon :salute
