Clearly Alistair Cook is held in higher esteem by the rest of the world than he is by supposed England fans.

Monty's press statements aren't answering any concerns cricket watchers might have. Being 'paranoid' could be anything from a personality flaw to a psychosis. None of my business, but he has chosen to set his problems before the public. Obviously, I hope he gets on top of his difficulties, and he has better times ahead. But I'm not much wiser about how he has been.

probably far more personal to tell the media, I know he had a divorce and it really affected him and his family and probably guessing Swann being far better than him affected him he essentially only got picked in the winter or in Asia and that should surely be hard on him considering he did lose it a lot in the county circuit after Swann played for england.
He only got picked in india/UAE in 2011/12 season because their were no spinners around they trusted him even though he didn't perform well in county cricket they even trusted him again in the 2013/14 ashes because of what he did the winter before.

Did think Flower was so harsh on him, English media and Flower were pathetic in 2011 when he was at a low point they crucified him for having nets with Tendulkar.

Congrats to Isobel Joyce, Cecelia Joyce, Laura Delany, the veteran opener Clare Shillington, Gaby Lewis, Lucy O'Reilly and Co. for pulling off a thrilling win against Bangladesh in the World T20 Qualifier final.

Ah, Salma Khatun attempting to mankad Delany and then Lucy O'Reilly scampering across for a single off the last ball of the match to win it for Ireland! One of those low-scoring humdingers.

Really surprised that Krishmar Santokie has retired from international cricket in order to play in the Masters Champions League.

Levi, Kleinveldt, McLaren, Carberry, Best, Onions, Mooney have also retired.

Levi, Kleinveldt, McLaren, Carberry, Best, Onions, Mooney have also retired.

Does that mean that we can get Levi and Kleinveldt as Kolpaks?

Not that we have any money.

I see Graeme Smith is considering a return to International cricket..at 33, he has time on his side, but his fitness was horrendous towards the end of his career...particuarly during his ill-fated stint at Surrey..

It has taken a while, but the ICC/BCCI are finally about to launch the 2016 World Twenty20 on Friday with announcements of venues and fixtures.

This guy is worth keeping an eye on...

American baseball player Boomer Collins (great name btw) is trying out cricket now as he couldn't make the grade in baseball: http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2015/d ... cket-india

He's in the PSL auction. Doubt he'll get picked up but i reckon a CPL team could take a punt on him in the future (as they have to have 1 Americas player in their squad).

Here's a video of his batting:

Obviously just a wild slogger at the moment but he's clearly strong enough and got great eye-hand co-ordination. Just needs lots of help on his technique.

His back foot seems to be anchored, but I guess that is down to being so used to playing baseball. There was a couple of off-side strokes that looked technically correct.

Be interesting to see what skills Boomer has developed after Week 8.
