Yesterday was the final of the Australian Women's one day cup. NSW were going for their 11th win in a row - yes, 11. However, South Australia managed to halt their incredible run - thanks largely to an English import (Sarah Taylor) scoring a century to help her team to 265.

If NSW had managed to win, it would have equalled the record set by St George (Rugby League) in the Fifties and Sixties - which, when I was young, was a world record for consecutive competition wins in an elite sport. I assume that it still is.

Taylor is one of 9 England cricketers (female) in Australia to take part in the inaugural Women's Big Bash League.

I think I'd have Warner, Vijay, Rogers and Warner ahead of Cook. Especially as his key innings in Abu Dhabi was after the cut off point, the end of the England season. AS captain, he drew in WI, drew with NZ and beat Australia (the defeat in UAE, again, after the cut off). So not particularly good.

Player of the year? Williamson?

Anderson averaged just over 3 wickets for each of his 14 tests, Hazlewood went close on 4.5 for his 8 tests.I know that isn't the full story, but it is worth noting.

Isn't it Anderson only played eight Tests in this period. Three v WI, two v NZ, and three v Aus?

These are the stats for the period. If we're going on stats alone, the choices look reasonable.

When I looked at their relative stats last night, I was just looking at 2015, and I may have been confused with that, as I had him 5 v Aus and 3 v Pakistan as well. Hazlewood's gone and played one more test since yesterday, as well.

Going on the stats on your link, no-one has better figures than Hazlewood - across whatever metre you choose - with the exception of Steyne. Who only played the 5 tests?

Steyn though, predictably, had a sensational strike rate. As he only played against WI and BD, it's not easy to make much of a claim based on his opportunities.
