Random Cricket Thread (International Cricket)

What's buzzing in the world of cricket....

I am unsure if ABC's iView works outside of Australia, but here http://iview.abc.net.au/programs/four-corners is Four Corner's report that came out last night on the state of cricket and what may become a reality - if Lalit Madi has his way.

Cut-down version is here http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-08-10/exiled-ipl-boss-modi-reveals-plan-international-cricket-takeover/6683916?section=sport

I have been very busy and was falling asleep when it came on. Will try to watch it later.

only skimmed it but my initial reaction is that I am not sure how far I would trust a guy who was too corrupt even for the BCCI

if any of the three formats were to be scrapped I would much rather it be t20 than ODIs

I agree with both of those lines, Rich - but, just cause the BCCI found him to be corrupt, it doesn't mean he is. That means placing an element of trust in the BCCI.

Not that I would want to be doing any deals with Madi.

Don't think he has any power in the game just now, does he?

While I can see ways that having cricket in the Olympics would be good for good for both the game and the IOC, I'm not sure why many are so blithe about cricket becoming involved in a corrupt oligarch like the IOC. It feels ethically wrong.

I always feel that the Olympics should be the pinnacle of a sport, that would not be the case for cricket. How many people could name who won the gold in Football, Rugby or Tennis off the top of their heads? Compare that with the number of people who could name the winners of the World Cups, Six Nations, Euro or Grand Slams.

Boxing is probably the most interesting case where it is the top of the amature achievements but completely seperate to the professional sport.

I've read that the 2005 Ashes is the biggest selling sport dvd there has been.

And isn't cricinfo the most visited sport website (should ditch the makeover)?

Remarkable (possible) facts that would be perplexing to anyone from a non Test playing country.

Quite probably.

Cricket is the second most popular sport in the world after all and Cricinfo is somewhat unique in being to go to website globally for news, scores etc.
