England players barely get two weeks rest after playing 10 test matches, 10 ODIs and 2 T20is in 5 months. Then a further 10 days rest before they fly out to South Africa for a further 4 tests, 5 ODIs and 2 T20is.

Pakistan have cancelled their ODIs against Zimbabwe next month just so they don't miss out on the Champions Trophy. They only organised the series when it looked like they wouldn't make it but seeing as they just beat Sri Lanka, Pakistan now have enough points. ICC should really do something about this.

Shame for Zimbabwe who played well against India. That said it is somewhat fitting that a series that was arranged for contrived reasons is cancelled for them too.

Hadn't heard he was ill. Well known player in this country for playing for Notts for many years. Lost regard from me with his lack of regret for the apartheid system. He was right that the boycott robbed him of an international career, but that missed the point by a long way. Sort of respected and feared by those he played with and against.

That's a shock. Only 66. Some say the best player never to play test cricket.

RIP Clive Rice. Himself and Hadlee helped make Notts the best team in county cricket for a while. Shame he, and others never had the chance to play test cricket.
