the tshirt aspect does look wrong but then again it says nothing about the guy temperament for international cricket.
The car point is just dopey, England gave permission for them to drive on their own, I see no issue if the players wanted to drive in Ferrari, porsche and Jaquar.

Thanks for this GJ. It set me off on an interesting exercise. I clicked on the link and, of course, couldn't play the video because of the restrictions.

The greatest bowler Tasmania has produced - Ben Hilfenhaus - has announced his retirement from first class cricket, 3 years after playing his last game for Australia.

Sad news for an adopted Tasmanian (me that is, he was born here). Probably THE key member of the golden era (so far) of Tasmanian Cricket, when they won their only 3 Sheffield Shields and 3 of their 4 One Day trophies. All of these happened after I arrived in Tassie, so Hilfy is well loved and will be missed.

he plans on playing on in T20 games, maybe playing for Tassie in the one dayers (both of those will be subject to selection) and moving into coaching.

Happy retirement to the Hilf. Had a good Ashes in 09, but a poor one in 10-11. Did well against India. Any bowler with an average under thirty hasn't done too badly.

can't see any of them doing so if reports of STAR Sports/ICC asking broadcasters to pay for the Tax they would have to pay because of the deal being signed in dubai.
apparently ICC/STAR are asking for a big price plus 20% on top of that to pay for the tax.

Even so, many, including Hilfy I'm sure, would agree that he never fulfilled his potential at test level. Which is a pity. I remember him topping the wickets column in the Shield two years running, setting the record one year. No poor bowler gets to do that.

Could be that he was Aus' best swing bowler since Aldermann??

not that he has a great deal of competition on that front.

Felt like a bit of a Hoggard. But didn't get to play in England much. Both did ok in India. Better average than Hoggy, but a much less substantial international career.

I put the tv on to see if the Asia cup was on, and found a docu on Allan Border, one of my favourite cricketers. He says that when he became captain, he felt let down by players going on a rebel tour. But that tour looks like an Australia B team at best. As it was, they brought through Waugh, McDermott, Jones etc, the heroes of the future. these were the rebel cricketers.

Kim Hughes (captain), Terry Alderman, John Dyson, Peter Faulkner, Mike Haysman, Tom Hogan, Rodney Hogg, Trevor Hohns, John Maguire, Rod McCurdy, Carl Rackemann, Steve Rixon, Greg Shipperd, Steve Smith, Mick Taylor, Graham Yallop.

Wessels joined them for the next year.

Hughes was finished. Only Alderman was a loss there.
