Interesting, this 2nd pink test in a series. First time Australia has had one. Of course it is replacing the Perth test, and the advertising bonanza that test cricket in the Eastern States' primetime - but they have got another hour out of the move to Hobart. First day/night test outside of Adelaide too.

To survive, playing more night tests is one of the changes that need to come about.

This will probably be a door opening that may never close again. Covid has brought about many changes that are here to stay, and extra pink ball tests may well become the norm.

I'm not sure they are sustainable given the electricity use. Funny that never seems to be an issue. Can't imagine they are solar powered.

Not sure anyone gives a damn about burning electricity. I guess in the end, its pretty similar to the 100s of night time football matches played everyday.

Sad for Hobart to get an Ashes test in these times, as I guess the tourism bounce and high attendances they might have got in usual times wont be happening.

We (myself, and the wife's sister's family) had every plan to be down for today and tomorrow - but then when the ticket price was announced, and it was going to cost around $1000 for the two days, we backed out.

Disappointing, as we were all keen, but I can't justify the expense atm.

Part of the reasoning for us not going is the amount of hotel space already reserved - and the ensuing costs to us. So, there must be a decent sized entourage that comes with the travelling circus, anyway.

But no, Capitalism doesn't care for sustainability.

I was thinking all sport would have to pull the plug on night games. It seems more obvious for Tests because they've actually added night cricket at a time when it should be called into question. We can't really keep on saying we have to change and then not change. Maybe sport could contribute to finding sustainable energy because it would benefit from it.

Entry to double vaxxed only, and not from any "hotspots", but where isn't it there days?

No quarantine. These rules have been in place for 1 month tomorrow.

Up until then, we'd gone close on 500 days without a community transmitted case. Now, it numbers in the thousands - but almost all Omicron, as no people are in ICU from Covid.

Guys do you have any suggestions for cheap cricket shops in Europe. I need to get some cheap balls for our nets sessions as well as replenish our club bag. Ive used cricket Italia before but its very poor. Also used Tim de leede in Holland.

Swedish sites are out of most things at present and the Danish sites are not great for cheaper net balls. Obviously the UK is the best place to look but you know, Brexit.

So anyone got anyone they use or recommend?
