I found some surprises in here ...

I got 22 right but missed a couple.

I'll leave it for a couple of days in case people want to have a crack at seeing how many of the 24 top scorers they can name before I say what surprised me ...

I got 20 (technically 19, but I got one right but there are about three ways to spell so the quiz wouldn't take the spelling I tried). I missed one bleeding obvious one but the other three I'd never have got. Wonder if they're the same that surprised you, Red.

Fun quiz, thanks.

I missed two obvious ones, one of which was my favourite ever batsman and the other was an ex durham player :panic

One was a complete surprise; one I thought had been rejected, so goodness only knows how I tried to spell it; one I might have got if I hadn't spent too much time trying to spell the names of two that I did know; one I wouldn't have got in a million years and one I'd just never heard of

Rohan Kanhai and Zaheer Abbass were the ones I didn't get - could have sat there for a another 10 mins and I wouldn't have got those! I expected Mahela and Sehwag to be in there but there's no sign of them.

I was really surprised that Gayle averaged 48 opening the batting in SENA countries - whereas Lara only averaged 44.8 batting in the middle order, which is also less than Chanderpaul.

If you were picking the best ever non-SENA batting line up to play in SENA countries based on the averages, it looks like it would be ...

Gayle (48)
Sanga (45.9) (wk) - or Greenidge (45.2) with Sanga replacing Kohli down the order and keeping wicket, or replacing Miandad if playing Sobers as all-rounder
Dravid (49.5)
Richards (53.3)
Sachin (51.3)
Miandad (48.9)
Kohli (46.6) - or Sobers (45.3) if you want an all-rounder

If picking a full side to play then I'd probably go for Gayle, Greenidge, Dravid, Richards, Sachin, Sanga (wk), Sobers - that's not a bad top 7! :D

Nice.

I was quite pleased with myself for getting Kanhai, but I didn't get Richardson or Abbas, and I also missed Sobers, which is a bit embarrassing  . I was typing in other WI greats from the passed like Worrell, Headley etc (and was a bit surprised they didn't come up, guess they just didn't play enough back then to hit the 2000 run threshold).

Very surprised not to see Mahela in there. Sehwag really struggled in England, New Zealand and South Africa - his record in all of them is really poor. He was a subcontinental opener through and through.

Iirc Sehwag started well in SA and in Eng but struggled later on in his career - he averaged over 60 in Aus as well. His innings were memorable though - that century in Nottingham was something else and the 195 in Melbourne and another 150+ in Adelaide were phenomenal as well.

Cricinfo has him averaging 46 in Australia, which is good, but largely on the back of those two innings. 27 or less in the other three - as you say, a couple of good innings early on, but not much after that.

He didn't bat on India's 2007 tour of England - was he injured or dropped?

Missed just one Pakistani batsman. ( I took precautions before taking the quiz by spell checking a few of my leading prospects just in case - these quizzes usually mess me up with Sri Lankan or Pakistani names)
