Yorks punishment decision has been put off until July according to Dobell. There has been an appeal seemingly, but no-one is saying who has appealed the inquiry's findings

the cynic in me thinks that this will give the ECB a much better idea of how many points to deduct them by then. If Yorks are not in promotion contention by then, then I'll expect a huge deduction

Can't happen quick enough.

Dobell reckons that the counties want to replace the hundred with an FA cup style knockout tournament with the minor counties involved. No-one seems to be disputing that the hundred is dead in the water, or that once the major league tournament starts in America that all the big stars will go there instead.

Dobell also thinks that the T20 dribble will become a league with promotion and relegation

:joydance

Harrison, Graves and Strauss spent £70m reserves on who knows what and had to bring in The Hundred to get the money back. In the last two seasons The Hundred has lost £9m.

and the rest

could be as much as £58 million if you include the money they had to give the counties to agree to it. Then there is other money that is so difficult to quantify that the recent investigation didn't even try. What proportion of the communications budget was spent on the Folly, for example, or any other dept in the myriad of ECB depts. They've thrown money away hand over fist on a punt and they now seem to be thinking that perhaps the only way to save it is to throw millions more at it

completely bonkers

They probably thought that all the countries would be queueing up to buy The Hundred.

I am glad those 3 have gone. Harrison giving himself a big bonus before leaving. Strauss tried to get a radical shake up of county cricket. Also thought it a good idea to retire Broad and Anderson last year.

I see the oleaginous Mark Nicholas is to become president of the MCC

Quite what that means to anybody else, I have no idea, but I'm sure he'll be pleased. Maybe he'll become famous for sliding along the boardroom floor without moving his feet :dunno

That's more of a touring party than a Test squad.

We used to pick a squad of 12 for home Tests, the spare being a bowler.

Gutted that Foakes has been dropped.

Pope 57.50
Foakes 52.80
Duckett 44.55
Leach 39.33
Crawley 38.88
Bairstow 27.66

Not the first time that Foakes has been dropped for being the best keeper in world (Stokes' words)

Hard to see Woakes get a game. Two of these quicks will miss out, probably three.

Broad might not play every game, that could let Woakes in. He might also have to replace Stokes if his fitness deteriorates further
