I agree with your view, but sticking points may be time, costs, and maintaining standards of inquiry across a further 17 counties.

And some of those responsible will use these as reasons why there shouldn't be an inquiry.

I did know that the England women had never played at Lords and I did know that Eton v Harrow gets played there all the time, but until this report I hadn't really put the two things together in my head

Funny you use that example, because a few months ago the ECB/MCC announced that the game would no longer take place at Lord's and would be replaced by a more inclusive final for school children from non-private school backgrounds, on the basis of the fact it was totally unrepresentative. Then after a few days, they went full u-turn and announced the future of the game at Lord's had been guaranteed for a number of years.

Nothing says tackling class issues in the game quite like announcing an inclusive policy that goes against two of the most elite institutions in the country, only to then clearly bow to pressure and influence afforded to those with a higher social status and privilege.

Worth noting as well that the last two players to represent England having played in the Harrow vs Eton game are...

Gary Ballance... who just admitted his part in the biggest racism scandal in English cricket history
Nick Compton .... who spends most of his time nowadays slagging off Black Lives Matter on his Twitter account

Think that in December England Test squad have to go to the UAE to get some match practice before India. They should also take a Lions squad to play against.

Lions?
1 Hameed
2 Lees
3 Bohannon
4 Abell
5 Lawrence
6 Smith
7 Hain
8 Carse
9 Curran
10 Dawson
11 Carson
12 Mahmood
13 Rew
14 Lawes
15 Robinson (w)

Probably too many batsmen and not enough spinners. Someone must be able to come up with a better squad.

BBC has Gus Atkinson among their players to watch.

What's your first team squad? Potts might be in the Lions. Or Jennings.

If you're called Tom, Ben, Ollie or Sam, you're going to be in with a shot. Or Joe.

Yes I think so.

Batsmen - Crawley, Duckett, Pope, Root, Brook, Bairstow, Stokes
Keeper - Foakes
Fast Bowlers - Anderson, Robinson, Tongue, Stone, Wood
Spinners - Leach, Ahmed, Dawson, Jacks

Of 13 Tests in India Anderson has 4 wins and 2 draws
Root (10) 1 win 2 draws
Stokes (9) 1 win 1 draw
Bairstow (8) 1 win 1 draw
Leach (4) 1 win

No Woakes! I know it makes sense, but it's a bit ruthless!

Surely Haseeb has had his last chance, even in the Lions. Got a feeling Lees could be back in the picture for the Lions, but Jennings in the full squad. He's never quite been forgotten.

I wouldn't be surprised if they take him to India. They don't worry about stats.

Cricinfo
England allrounder expects to bow out of ODIs after World Cup, happy not to play another away Test.

Then
"I've not been picked yet, and I'd never say no," Woakes said about the prospect of travelling to India. "I don't know if I'd be selected on a tour like that: my away record speaks for itself.

3 Tests 3 wickets at 81.33 in India

Think I'd prefer to see Woakes kept for home Tests (where he will be important next year , with Broad gone from the scene and doubts over Anderson) - and he's got some work to do with the ODI squad before that tour of India so may appreciate a rest. Don't see his style suddenly adapting to make him an asset in Indian conditions.

Stokes to 'come out of retirement' to play in WC!

Good news for England. But a bit of a half-arsed attempt to cut out 50 over cricket, presumably intended to prolong his career in other formats.

Is Topley back? According to wiki he's involved in the 100 competition.
