Turned out to be not remotely competitive. England will be pleased to have won so easily with several of their established big guns not playing. Promising signs from some of these teenagers.

Play going almost exactly the opposite way tonight

Who is getting a central contract and who is losing. It's already the 11 Oct. Usually by the 1st Oct we hear.

Maybe arguing with the PCA about salaries and match fees after last time ECB executives get £2.1m bonuses

Last year - Ali, Anderson, Archer, Bairstow, Broad, Burns, Buttler, Crawley, Curran, Leach, Malan, Morgan, Pope, Rashid, Robinson, Root, Roy, Stokes, Woakes, Wood.

Maybe Roy, Burns and Morgan for Foakes, Brook and Lees or someone else.

Big disappointment for him, in a career of injuries. And a sizable loss for England.

Mills comes in.

Bobat saying that there is a place for one player from the Lions to make the Pakistan tour. Why not just pick Potts. He shouldn't have missed out anyway.

Potts is heading over to the UAE with the lions, who will be part of England's warm up tour, so they're keeping him close. I think the one place is perhaps being held open for Archer who is heading over there as well, to prove his fitness. Maybe even for Mahmood, who knows? England won't want to have to rely solely on Woody to provide express pace.

but yes, I do agree, Potts should be in the England squad regardless

???

I didn't actually read anything in that article about a place being "held open" ? Talk of playing in a practice match , rehab , etc. Presume with this Lions set up they could send another bowler - or two - along if they want anyway.

I assumed they have originally only picked four fast bowlers in the expectation the pitches won't give them much and so a lot of overs will be down to the spinners - though apart from Leach they are all part timers - which is a bit of a worry. Two (rotating) pace men plus Stokes per match , along with Leach and presumably Livingstone doesn't really strike me as a viable attack ; so I would hope they revise that plan when they get there - and including another pace man in the party makes sense. Potts surely entitled to be first choice for that role.

Easy win for Australia

England do what they have to do to achieve the most important goal of this pointless 3 match ODI series. They turn up and the ECB don't have to give any money back to any broadcasters

give money back?

That's the sort of XI that would be put together to play the tourists in April. Jordan isn't a 50 over bowler anymore.
