Thailand are showing that they really can mix it with players that are on the next rung up in this series with Zimbabwe. After drawing the ODI series, they go into the last T20 with the series tied at 1 a piece. Natthakan Chantham has been their most prolific batter over the last decade but hasn't come up with the goods in this series before today. She scored 88 of Thailand's 154 runs. In worrying signs for Zimbabwe they were completely rattled out for 101 having never looked close. The final game is on Monday.

Thailand seized the T20 series with a convincing 27 run win. Zimbabwe put up a stern test for the Thais and were aggressive with the ball. Loreen Tshuma's 3-14 put a lot of pressure on the associate side but they made their way to a creditable 134-5. Zimbabwe have looked frail with the bat throughout this series and it was that area that let them down again; managing only 107 in their 20 overs.

A huge congratulations to the Thais.

Zimbabwe beat Ireland in their first official one-day game thanks to a century by captain Mary-Anne Musonda. The more experience side gor a decent looking 253-8 but Zimbabwe got there with very little fuss indeed.

Gaby Lewis scored the 5th highest all-time ODI score for Ireland Women today as they made chasing down Zimbabwe's total of 178 look like child's play.

Lewis' 96 contributed to a dominant opening stand that looked like they might do it on their own....but in the end they chased it down for the loss of two wickets

A Deandra Dottin century leads West Indies to victory in the series opener against Pakistan in Karachi!

Another West Indies win and another dominant all-round performance from the women in maroon. Hayley Matthews ended the match with 4/26 to earn the POTM award.

One of those series that is bound to break records has kicked off in Qatar.

Nepal, who are seen as one of the next associate cabs off of the rank, are up against Qatar - a team who have all of a sudden decided having a women's team is very important because they are throwing money at the sport to try and get them up in the world.

This money has not transferred into performance as, chasing 146, Qatar were all out for just 27. Unfortunately the Nepali bowers shared the wickets amongst them with Rubina Chhetr's figures of 1.5-0-1-3 looking the most impressive.

In terms of victory, the 119 runs was the 28th largest in women's T20Is

This series was, as scheduled, very one sided. Thee times Nepal won the toss and three times Nepal batted first. Qatar scored a combined 439 runs with scoring 150 across the three innings. The player of the series was Sita Rana Magar who got 82* out in the final game today to finish top of the run scoring table with 121.

There are low scoring games of cricket and then there was the first game of the Prime Minister's Cup Women's National Cricket Tournament this morning. Province 1 batted first and put kn a decent 166-2 against some lacklustre bowling. In the second dig Karnali wrte all out for 6! All! Out! For! 6! Even worse they were all out for 6 in 11.4 overs. Hard to imagine how that came about. Alisha Khadiya's figures of 5-1 look .....healthy.

Cant quite figure out which one of these teams I like the most. After Karnali's poor performance previously, Gandaki have had a nightmare today. Chasing 150, they went at about 1 an over for the first 15 to eventually get 33-7. Thir first 4 batters all made ducks. The team is nothing if not consistent. They average 35 runs a match with their highest total in this tournament being 40-3.

Karnali have plunged the highs and lows a little more. After their opening game score of 6, they went on to get 17-3 in a rain affected match and then, most recently, 51. Progress.

Been a bit quiet on the women's cricket front of late but the wait is finally over as Zimbabwe, Namibia and Uganda play out the Capricorn Women's Tri-Series over the next week.


The opening game provided something of a shock as 11th ranked Zimbabwe were turned over by 21st placed Namibia; theoretically the lowest placed team of the three.

It was the Zimbabweans strike rates that let them down with only Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano scoring at greater than a run a ball. She scored 62% of the team's 130 runs in the twenty overs. Namibia did not find the chase a cake walk but paced their innings better to reach the total with 3 balls left in it.

Namibia play Uganda tomorrow.

This looks likely to be a low scoring tournament.

Namibia limped to 90-9 in their twenty with Evelyn Anyipo gutting their top order in a killer 4th over that read W . W . W .

Anyipo was let down by her batters though, as they fell short by 12 runs in the chase. Only three batters got into double figures.

In the afternoon matches Zimbabwe had to fight for their win against Uganda. Zim put on just 100 thanks to Concy Aweko's 3-10; the best figures of the tournament so far. Zimbabwe's total would have looked even bleaker if it weren't for Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano who again top scored with 46. She is the tournament's highest run scorer.

Tomorrow is a rest day with games resuming on Saturday.

As perhaps has been expected, Zimbabwe have dominated this competition; winning all their matches including a comprehensive victory by 7 wickets with 65 balls remaining in today’s final against Namibia. On the other end of the scale, Uganda went winless throughout the competition.



Despite this lack of team success, Uganda’s Janet Mbabazi was the highest wicket taker with 11 wickets. Zimbabwe’s Chipo Mugeri-Tirpiano fell away after her first two scores of 80 and 46 but still ended up top of the batters with 172 runs across 5 games. An impressive feat considering she sat out 2 games.
