Orla Prendergast from Ireland is a name to look out for. Got career best figures of 4-10 in just 3 overs today.

I am such a big fan of women's cricket but some of the gaps that persist in the game are cavernous.

The gaps between the strongest and the weakest performers in teams outside the top three are huge and then the gulf between India, Aus and England and the rest of the pack are equally as cavernous.

Today West Indies had the overall best performer Stafanie Taylor, the best bowler and the highest scoring batsman and were still comfortably beaten because the average ability for the England team was by far higher than the average ability of the Windies.

Danni Wyatt has struggled too, of late

Sarah Glenn looks a good bowler. I think she's out performed Sophie E in this series

That's s big call ,DFM...I reckon they've both bowled pretty well in these matches. Perhaps Sarah has been more successful with the wickets (haven't rechecked the figures) but Sophie has a bit of an aura which helps her generally put the brakes on sharply ; and I think she has tended to bowl - very effectively - in the key periods. In any case they are a fine pair to have available !

West Indies have a few problems ; really only three bats capable of serious runs and if one or two of them fail... Their bowling isn't bad , plenty of variety ; but the fielding :facepalm

Amy Jones was dropped on two the other night : talk about big moment ! Her innings was totally dominant after that. But you always have the feeling when England lose a few wickets that someone will bob up to score serious runs at pace. With West Indies : if Dottin isn't batting they're going nowhere...

Credit to everyone at Derby who managed to get a 10 over game out in really very poor conditions.

Not much to say about a five an over spectacular. Shamilia Connel's 2 wickets and just five runs in her first over set a decent tone for West Indies but England won itm

Another game where the best player was in maroon but England prevailed.

WI fielding was much better last night, they took their catches and some were tough. It put England under pressure chasing a modest target, and England made some awful shot selections... many of them by their most experienced players. Even when the shot selection improved, the running was ridiculous. England were in a state of panic for much of that reply from swapping the batting order around, to trying to win it in 2 or 3 overs, to a complete lack of communication in the running. Fortunate then that victory was handed to them on a plate through wides, no balls and free hits

all in all, though, this series has been a decent spectacle for the TV and might encourage the beeb to show more in the future (something I've always maintained that they should have done a few years ago.... they might get there in the end)

Showing women's cricket live will do more for female participation rather than hiring female pundits to cover the elite game.

By the same token, I would rather have an all female punditry team covering women's cricket. I want to hear Charlotte Edwards, Lydia Greenway, Clare Connor et al talk about their experiences in the England setup and their journey into becoming World Champions before turning full time professional. Such content would actually engage with wider cricket fans, as well as attract more women into participating.

Only watched that last one on replay having given up on the rain... But it all looked a bit shambolic ; which is understandable given the essential absurdity of a five over match. West Indies did (surprisingly) field much better when it was all too late..one really spectacular catch and a couple of good run outs. The two no balls to finish was a bit crazy !

But overall , credit to all for putting on a show. I see Courtney Walsh is taking the reins at West Indies Women now. Think he might do a good job for them...
