The only rule is, you can't pick someone with a disclosed terminal disease.
Other ways to do it (as 6 names has taken a long time to get a result) is you pick 6 names, and it's done with points over a year. You get points based on age, so basically if a rock star dies as part of the 27 club, you get lots of pints compared to a 100 year old

At least it was Kissinger. Might have felt different if it was Julie Andrews.
Presume Mick & Keef were early picks.

gosh... aren't people getting old
add to that Benjamin Zephaniah, 65. he was older than I assumed he was
at least he was described as a writer, poet and peaky blinders actor. If he'd had a walk on part in a harry potter film, he'd have just been a harry potter actor and everything he had to say in his life would have been ignored

same with my daughter.
I sent her a snip of the announcement earlier, she was shocked. (after all, that is almost her dad's age...)

Franz Beckenbauer at 78. Shoo-in for my lifetime World XI, until I lost interest. Successful German manager too.

you beat me to it, Arthur
dodgy financial dealings, suspicions of corruption in the awarding of the 2018 and 2022 WC's, tax havens, aggressive tax avoidance schemes.... all the usual stuff for former (and even current) footballers, but nothing 'usual' about his abilities as a footballer. Even got a starting place in Monty Python's Germany philosophers XI in that classic encounter with the Greece philosophers XI
