Andrew Strauss - England's Director of Cricket

....although on the evidence so far he would struggle to direct traffic.

Remember today is his first day in the job and normally a new employee would have a honeymoon period.

However he has managed to upset most England cricket fans already.

He sacked Peter Moores. Ok fair enough but thanks to him the last person to find out about the sacking was Moores himself.

He dangled a carrot in front of KP by inviting him to a meeting, only to be told that effectively he would never play for England again citing a lack of trust but at the same time offering an advisory role in "Team England".

And for good measure England have slipped two places in the test rankings and if we lose to NZ we will slip to 7th.

Is it too late to re-hire Paul Downton?

The best thing he can do is quit before he does any more damage.

How can anyone be so crass is beyond me. You aren't playing for England get over it, but we'd quite like your help and advice on the ODI side.

I reckon if KP had accepted that he would have changed his mind on that too just to rub it in.

It is vaugely offensive we can appoint the current skipper's ex opening partner and expect any degree of objectivity. Strauss has already proved that he is more of the same and incapable of putting cricket before himself.

England are well and truly *modded*.

It isn't as if Strauss was a terrific captain. I wonder if he'll need Flower to tell him what to do in this role too!

Another thing I find is the nonsense of the Criteria Strauss is getting judged on.

Reports and pretty much clarified by Strauss in the few words he has spoken to the press is that he won't be judged till after the 2017 Ashes he basically got the first two ashes series off and everything he will be judged on is in 2019 AKA the World cup and the Ashes.
Find that laughable TBH I find the entire Set up of ECB Goals and to the Matter most of english fans Goals laughable.

Reason why this is pathetic.
1) why are england giving up on this 2015 and 2017 ashes down under, things can easily change in 2017.
2) why are number 1-3 placed in the Test Ranking not a priority, Surely all the series between 2019 should also matter.

In my opinion England best chance at success and to win the Ashes is to set small target and actually stop thinking about the Ashes/2019 year.
Set small targets of winning 2 test series this year, play Competitively with Australia this Summer and afterward set a target of being in the Top 3 in all formats, if they do this England should be successful and Ashes success should follow.

England did this quite well with strauss in 09, pushed Aus all the way in the Ashes, Won it, Set a target to be number 1 and drew with SA, Beat india Home and Away, Beat Aus at Aus.
Australia did something similar in 2013 and look where they are now.

England are playing with a negative attitude and their set-up stinks of a defeatist mindset considering they assuming they will lose the next two ashes series and pretty much discarded the next 3 years of the fixtures list.

KP just confirm That Strauss isn't judged on this year results and goals are very long term.
Really pathetic.

Not having that, Graves won't accept failure. If England aren't picking up results, Strauss will be gone.

I hope so but not counting on it.

he should get the honeymoon period till the easier fixture come in at 2016.

his first real assignment he getting judged on will be the ashes at 2017/18 before that he only got India away and SA at home.
I doubt he would get sacked even if he loses 9-0 in those.
Although the Smaller result might make him lose is job but England would have to be really bad to lose a lot of those.

IF Strauss got a honeymoon period till lets say around 2017, Does the new coach get it as well.
Also which person get the blame for the Result Strauss or Coach.

Quite ironic since it looks like it was better to just have downton back instead of this new complicated mess created by ECB.

Could be Graves that goes.

probably since Strauss could pass the blame on the Coach or even some player in the team.

If Graves does go it is through resignation, but I can't see it.

Graves job is to reform domestic cricket and boost participation at recreational level.

But we don't have one at the moment.
