Hales - 4 - Looked shaky in both knocks
Taylor - 5 - Fell away after 98* in the opener
Root - 6 - Probably our best batsman but only made one major contribution
Morgan - 1 - Hopeless
Buttler - 6 - Made some decent contributions
Bopara - 6 - Did well in his only match
Jordan - 6 - Respectable performances in his two matches
Broad - 1 - Only took 4 wickets in 6 matches
Tredwell - 5 - Reasonable performance in his only match
Anderson - 2 - His poor World Cup record continues
Ballance - 1 - 10 was his highest score in 4 innings
Moeen - 5 - One fantastic knock but it was against Scotland
Finn - 5 - Took wickets but was very expensive
Woakes - 4 - Ineffective with the ball, couple of useful knocks with the bat
Moores - 1 - Sack him now

1 is far too generous for Morgan and Ballance.

Moores is probably about 6 points too high there.

Ravi and Tredwell might be overmarked for doing ok in a game against associates. Moeen might be indermarked for a reasonable bowling effort and a ton, though against Scotland, which saved that batting innings from ignominy.

I'd pick Moeen as England's player of the series. Bell offered some positive merit. Root and Buttler demonstrated some ability. Difficult to judge Bopara, Hales and Tredwell. Everyone else was poor.

Of those 15, I'd keep Moeen, Bell, Root, Hales Taylor, Buttler, Jordan, Woakes.

Ballance - back to the nets.

I'm being excessively generous to Finn, but only because he did at least take some wickets against rubbish opposition, unlike the others

Dan's ratings look ok. No player really rose above being average.

how can bopara get the joint top score when he played one game against an associate, in conditions that were very suited to his style of bowling, and didn't even bat ?

but he didn't contribute much either

ratings should be for what someone did not for what they didn't do ...

if you want to give him 6/10 for that one game then fine but its ridiculous to give him 6/10 for the tournament

Those players who only played one game should be an appendix to the remainder. cf90's ratings look about right though I can't understand the reasoning behind a sole comment about one individual when others are rated the same or even less.

I think Dan's are closer to my views.

how can you give bopara the same score as buttler and root and a higher score than moeen and bell ?

even the rationale behind the moeen score is due to "a fantastic knock against Scotland", well wasn't bopara's only contribution a decent bowling performance against an associate in very helpful conditions, so how does that deserve a higher score ?
