I can imagine the lengthy reply you'd give if it was Warner not Stokes, Aus not Eng.

Doing well in a sporting event does not, imo, in any way redeem for severely poor, even criminal, personal actions.

He did do extremely well though.

I think he means redemption for the World T20 final.

Oh, if that is the case.

Far more important championship to win, this one, imo.

As suggested, I've mentioned the T20 final everytime he steps at his mark to bowl. He bottled it completely that day, and if he ever wanted to elevate himself to the mark many attribute to him, he needed to remove that.....no more will I say he's a bottler. So redemption....

Same for Warner tbf....one has to step aside and say he's come back and under huge pressure, took his game to the highest level. One has to respect that.

Both would be very far down on my list of "who to go on a weekend away with"......

Will never bash the bloke again after those World Cup Final heroics.

Last overs of the World T20 Final and the 2012 FLt20 Yorkshire v Durham match all forgotten about

Stokes was made vice captain at the same time when Root was made captain in Feb 2017. They played 7 Tests under this leadership. Won 5/7 playing South Africa and West Indies.

Now that Stokes is 'in charge' again hopefully Root's batting will improve. Stokes the secret captain. :) Buttler as vice captain was only there to bounce ideas off.
Stokes though has a Durham bias - Jennings, Stoneman and Wood and Root with Ballance who all did nothing much. I wouldn't be surprised if Burns fails Stoneman returns.

Scored 135 to win the test :clap Probably even better than the 5th Day ton on a deteriorating pitch at Perth few years back.

straight fight between him and Dina Asher Smith, I reckon

a few weeks ago I'd have had him nailed on for the title, but a bad series in NZ might tarnish his WC and Headingley heroics.

Feels like a small shortlist this year. It has been as many as 12 in recent years, I think (I might be wrong)

Doesn't the F1 driver normally win?

Cricket's hinterland is too small now.

Another great performance from Stokes.

I hope the media coverage doesn't go too myopic on the lad though. Need to always be thinking of the team as a whole.

With such a searchable and generic thread title, it would have to.

Much more searchable than many others, for eg: Cinema until around 1975
