ECB call up methodological snooker player Rod Lawler for the 4th Sri Lanka ODI.

"We need an opener with an ability to go the distance and value his wicket. Having seen Rod Lawler on the baize, I am confident he can transfer his skills onto the crease" Says Peter Moores.

"I would like to welcome Rod Lawler into the England fold" says Alastair Cook. "Batsmen should be judged on their longevity at the crease and I am confident Rod will last the full 50 overs."

Terrified BCCI instructs ICC not to ban Cook for any matches involving England and India.

"with no Cook in the side, England would have their best chance ever of winning the world cup, and we are not prepared to tolerate that" said a BCCI spokesman

Cricket Disciplinary Commission extend Alastair Cook's ban for a further 3 matches and must go on a captaincy course, if he is to retain the England captaincy.
