Probably bring in Carberry or Hales and shuffle the pack.

Got a feeling Carbs is persona non grata. Maybe Compo too.

Other opener option is Robson.

These have all been dropped.

Bairstow and Bopara are experienced middle order options. Vince. They could move up a number six, like Moeen or Stokes.

People say there's no problem with batting. But the back up looks sketchy.

Lees or Borthwick?

Carbs isn't going to get a call up, his time has passed maybe somewhat unfairly. The ODI side has the chance to try out several new players due to our shedule over the next 12 months. Ali will likely keep his opening bearth for the time, Hales would be an obvious choice to partner him which can be done on the pretense of resting Bell. Root should move up to three, Taylor at four for me even though I will admit that goes against my views on messing players about. Root is our best batsman and needs to be at the top of the order.

It might be a chance to push Buttler up the order as well, Stokes needs to be in the top order as well.

Hales / Roy
Ali
Root
Taylor
Morgan
Buttler
Stokes

There seem to be a lot of interesting options in the ODI side. Not so much the Test team

I guess James Taylor is next in line.

Samit?

Chopra?

Chopra seems to have lost his place in the line and Fat Sam is another whose time has gone.

Thats what I'm getting at. People are saying the middle order is strong, but in terms of who has been tried at A level, and could step in, it's pretty much Taylor and no one else.

Rashid could be an option, bump Buttler up to 6 and play Rashid and Woakes at 7 and 8 (in whichever order)?
Anything can happen with a round ball.

Coz we're going up, and we'll win the cup, for Sussex by the Sea!

But it's 3-5 I'm looking at. Buttler would bat at five? Fair enough, but Prior never did that, even when his average was in the mid forties. Though that's a possibility for sorting out England's 6-8 all rounder jam.

I think the heading of this post should be changed to "There will be troubles ahead: England selection issues".

This is just pre Ashes jiggery pokery. KP will be batting at four in Cardiff, and Strauss will be clapping him out into the middle. Someone from Yorkshire will bring him out fresh gloves after his ton.

Well given he toured West Indies , and is in some form , I'd imagine Bairstow is in the frame also ...

Not sure why all you NZ fans care so much though :)

I mentioned Bairstow, but he hasn't been convincing, and seems to be reserve keeper now.

Habit, I suppose.

I want a coach who says "I'll pick who I want and if those players dont want to play in the same team then they know where the door is".
