Won't Woakes play ODIs and 20/20s? Or will they go Jordan, Willey, Plunkett?

He has played 43 ODIs. Do they see Jordan, Plunkett and Willey as being more powerful hitters?

Not sure batting is the issue with all these. Willey has been batting down at ten. With Mo at seven, and Rashid at eight, they don't have to pick all their pace bowlers for their batting. I think CJ might be more of a T20 player now. Plunkett seems to be easily forgotten. Willey should play if fit. Topley might figure when back on the park. Given the injuries (I think Plunkett is carrying an injury) maybe Woakes will be back. But don't forget Broad was selected ahead of him in SA.

Actually, I'm wrong, Woakes played two of the ODIs in SA, same as Broad.

Finn will play of course.

Forgot about Ball. Surprised by Broad. Don't know Howell (Gloucs?). Big squad.

Howell's name has come out of nowhere.
I don't think Morgan will fancy Broad in his squad, who knows more than he does.

Cricinfo
Morgan on captaincy
I see stages where other people have taken over different teams around the world and they've had to come in and captain guys who have played 200 one-dayers or 100 Tests and I can understand that presents completely different challenges. But I haven't had that with this side.

Can't see them picking sixteen, that's a lot of players to take away from their county. If Plunkett is fit, it would be another wild selectoral swing to leave him out again- but he does seem to be subject to those.

Broad didn't do that well in SA. I'd rather they stuck with a new wave of players not (yet) steeped in white ball failure. But he was a popular choice with the media.

The consensus seems to be that irrespective of Chris Woakes's showing against SL he still lags behind Stokes, Finn and Wood in the selection stakes.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Rightfully so for all except, maybe Finn but I feel we need to show faith in him.

Not very close.

Reckon Bairstow and Billings are contesting a place in T20. Mills has to play due to lack of pace options.

Listening to Bayliss talking about players under consideration for the test side is a joke as he always has to end up by adding that he's never seen them play. While the CC was getting underway in April Bayliss was at home in Australia an obvious drawback to having a commuter as England coach. With Fabrace taking a quite prominent role I wonder what exactly Bayliss brings to the team.
