this

i was always a huge fan of his batting but im not sure he would get into the team

ballance, bell and root are fairly secure at 3-5 and moeen is the number 6 and front line spinner who balances the team

I'd pick him in the T20 side. Wouldn't for the others. But a lot of county runs and a loss of form for someone in the Test XI and I could change my mind.

It isn't quite fully clear what Groves many with his comment. You could take it as him saying that all players are available for selection, which is how it should be. Neither Groves or Downton should be saying who should and will shouldn't be picked.

Pretty strange interview with Broad on Cricinfo:

When we were at our best, we had characters like Trotty and Swanny. They couldn't give a crap what anyone else was doing. They hardly knew who we were playing against.

Fair play to Leicestershire in making a bid, no such thing as bad publicity.

It's the rock versus the hard place when it comes to KPs future.

Despite what some might think of him, he's got a few of the old grey ones upstairs. Unless he gets firm confirmation that he would be considered for selection based on merit from the ECB, there's no way he's going to put his pay cheques on hold for a wild goosechase.

tbh even as a KP fan I am not that fussy whether he got back into the team or not now

we have a good core of talent in the middle order and I would prefer to see us continue to allow guys like ballance, root and taylor develop than go back to KP for a couple of years, same applies to trott as well

Might it look different if England are getting pasted next summer and beyond? As they could well be.

But for the ECB to do an about turn on this is unsatisfactory. Either they should have stuck to their guns, or they should explain why they have done as they have, and why seemingly changed their minds for no new reason. Pietersen has created some sort of future for himself in the aftermath of Downton's decision, and now he is seemingly encouraged to rip that up upon a flimsy promise that he will be considered.

KP has a decade of England games behind him. Will he be considered like Adam Lyth will be considered, or like Broad coming back from an injury? If possible, things have been made worse by this ill thought out pronouncement. Pietersen deserved better last year, and he does now.
I always say that everybody's right.

Colin Graves and KP definitely plotting something.
