Big of a dent to his ego in the IPL auction. Went for a very low figure.

only double what bopara was bought for

not sure what the currency conversion is but I guess that means he went for about £1.50 as bopara cant be worth more than 75p

KP £205,000
Morgan £156,000
Bopara £100,000

Hales, Carberry, Sanga, Mahela and Dilshan all unsold.

Topical question - who gets the tax on their IPL earnings?

I suppose the term low is rather relative here. I doubt he'd have been particularly surprised by his drop in value given his recent performance in the IPL.

Under his captaincy Delhi flopped in 2014. But Delhi flopped even under Mahelas captaincy in 2013, and they have been a bad team in most IPL's. Offcourse that captaincy failure will affect his salary somewhat though. But the most impact on salary was his own batting performance in IPL. If he was not the captain he would have been dropped.

Morgan is going to be allowed to play in the IPL over captaining England for the ODI with Ireland. Bit rich considering all the fuss that was made over KP wanting to play in the IPL.

the way he is going at the moment he wont be in the team much longer so it wont matter

get rid of morgan and ravi at the end of the world cup and give billings and stokes a go, would allow us to move buttler up to 5 where he would hopefully do what david miller is doing for SA

I was giving Paul Downton my vote for SPOTY 2015 if this hadn't happened.

Even more so given that Morgan won't actually be playing in the XI. He'll be warming the benches. There is no way he gets into a team consisting of Warner, Williamson, KP, Steyn and Boult as the overseas options. Even KP would struggle to survive a string of poor performances unlike last season.
