Season doesn't begin for another two months, plenty of time to get with a county.

so lets get this straight

you think he should just sign with any random county, even when you don't know whether anyone has even offered him a contract, accept less money than he can get playing t20 and probably have to move home to do so. all for nothing given he wont actually play for England again anyway but just to make some sort of meaningless point.

not like you have any sort of axe to grind tho ...

James Whitaker said two weeks ago, 'let me make this clear, Kevin Pietersen will never play for England again'.

KP wants to play for England, but he has no chance of that happening. When your girlfriend breaks up with you, you want to get back together with her. But it isn't your decision to make. Maybe KP should set himself on fire in Trafalgar Square to register how much he wants to get back in the side.

If you're going to publically announce any sort of international comeback, then yes. Go through the proper channels like any player who wants to make the England squad, not rely on a few cameo knocks in T20 cricket and on media headlines.

All this playing overseas T20 for money is a red herring, KP is worth plenty of money as it is through publicity.

If the ECB announced that Kevin had the same chance as any other county player of getting in the side, then it might be reasonable to say he should find a county and score some runs. But when they say he is a special case, and they refuse to pick him under any circumstances, then he would have to be deluded to follow that path.

what part of the chairman of selectors saying he will never play for England again don't you understand ?

he didn't announce an international comeback , he said he would love to play for England again , that option isn't available to him given he wasn't dropped or retired, he was sacked

KP can't play for England again. Why resent that he has other options?

With a new man at the helm, any survivors from the previous Ashes tour are in the firing line and Colin Graves is not a man to tolerate failure.

With this in mind, an England return for KP is never out of the equation and a stint in County Cricket will only increase his chances.

When England (including Flower, Moores, Downton, Whitaker, Cook) announce that Pietersen will be considered for England, (after two weeks ago saying he won't be) and KP has a path back into the side, then it would pretty weird of him to try. Has Graves given him reason to hope? It was pretty strange for Clarke to have an opinion on this. It'd be just as strange if the new Chairman thought it was his job to get involved in selection.

KP is unlikely to play any cricket in England this year, maybe never again.
