Hussey was one of the great batsmen of the modern era, right up there with Lara, Tendulkar, Dravid, Ponting and Kallis.

What took him above most of his countrymen was the man behind the batting, a model of how cricket could and should be played.

“Sachin and Lara were the two stand-out batsmen for me. Lara won more games for his team than Sachin probably has. I’d lose more sleep as captain knowing Lara was coming in to bat next day than I would with Sachin. You always found a way to restrict Sachin if you needed to. Lara could turn it on in half an hour and take a game away from you. For me, it has never been about making hundreds, it is about winning games and series.”

Even if he had not been given cricketer of generation award, he would still be the most valued cricketer by billions of his Indian fans.

Sachin worshipped.jpg

The place he has been given by Indian fans is the best a cricketer would ask for.

Sammy commented that India knows how to treat their superstars.KP , this year said that he wished he had got God like status that is given to the likes of Sachin. The fan following he has is much more important than these awards given by ICC.

Cricket is not just about performance. It's also about life. It's about how you leave an imprint on the young: the imprint of integrity, of honesty and of gratitude. Sachin Tendulkar lived this quality all his life and he shared it with us all, as only he could.

Ahmed Shehzad has more talent than Sachin Tendulkar: Abdul Razzaq

Yet again Pakistanis have compared someone with Sachin. They compared Sasit Ali, Hasan Raza to Sachin and flopped. Both of them could not sustain their place in team for more than 26 tests and 66 ODI's together. Now Razzak is saying Ahmed Sehzad is more talented that Sachin. Good to see Pakistan trying hard about this

Playing at six world cups is a very creditable achievement in itself.

I am guessing that no-one else has even been to five?

Mahela Jayawardene, Shahid Afridi, Wasim Akram, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Aravinda de Silva, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Sanath Jayasuriya, Jacques Kallis, Imran Khan, Brian Lara, Muttiah Muralitharan, Thomas Odoyo, Ricky Ponting, Arjuna Ranatunga and Steve Tikolo all played in five.

Probably just Sachin with six.
