But then how does Amla the Saffer get in but A B D does not.

Amla had a great tour of England last year, ABDV didn't have that good a time.[/quote]

Okay, but any idea about the duration of English summer that they have considered. Does it includes England tour of India.

Thanks.

How about Cook / Broad/ Jimmy . How was their form. Swann and Finn too. Less deserving in that list.

Cook, Swann and Jimmy have won it before, meaning they can't win it again.

Okay. Still a very weird condition to make others ineligible . Anyways....

So it seems they have given more preference to the domestic matches where he scored about 2 doubles ? and was perhaps the top scorer in the previous county season.

I liked what i saw him from Staium at Wankhede. The forward defensive and front foot drives were so technically perfect. Very few specialist batters get it right as much as he did technique wise. It was good to see that he got one 100 in NZL which was missing in the debut series.Hopefully he will convert few more starts like that.

You'd think after 150 years people would have gotten used to the ideas behind the Wisden list by now.

Shame to see only one county player on there this year.

Not really, it's a recognition for the player's who have made the biggest contribution to the English season and in many ways should be the display case for new English talent.

Any encouragement to make it global has perhaps been taken away by the ICC awards. There will probably be awards in other countries that reward domestic performances?

One would assume so. Wisden has always been an English produce so understandably focuses solely on English cricket.

I suspect the confusion over this comes from its high profile within the cricketing world.

It's the 'cricketer of the year' awards that's a bit misleading, when the same player cannot win twice. A great book, but not fussed over these awards.

Wisden did run cricinfo for a couple of years in the early 2000s.

The idea of the same player not being able to win twice is a very good one or otherwise it would simply be the Test team winning every single year.
