I won't drop him because IMO at least it is pointless to drop the core player, the most experienced player and one of the best batsman of this generation on basis of three bad series.
Test FL's - 8 , ODI and Tests Combo FL's - 1, ODI World Cup - 1, ODI FL's - 7, ODI and T20i combo FL's - 1 ,

he hasn't averaged more than 45 in a series for 2 years now adi and when you have someone who is going to turn 40 in a few months time then you have to be realistic

you dont have to keep repeating them adi i can look at cricinfo too

are you denying that he hasn't averaged more than 45 in a series for 2 years now and for a guy almost 40 years old 2 years is a pretty long time ?

They won't drop Tendulkar. You don't do that to a demigod.

But someone might have a quiet word. To be honest , I think he would be ready to call it quits if they told him they would like to turn to youth. This might be a good time ...or they might want him to hang on for the Australian tour.

Don't think it will be much longer though.

they obviously need to manage it right

as you say they cant just come out and drop him , but somebody needs to have the bottle to have a quiet word with him sooner rather than later imo

There is an obvious issue that the current Indian side has relitively inexperianced players at 3 and 4 which means should Tendulkar retire then the entire middle order would be rookies unless Sehwag moves to four. At the same time what is the point of keeping experiance in the side for experiance's sake which is pretty much all Tendulkar is contributing at present and Kohli and Puraja look more than competant at this level.

He's pretty much undroppable but there has to be a realisation that all good things come to an end between him and the BCCI, I would be very interested to know how much say Dravid and VVS had in their decisions to retire.

A young player can gain experience only if he plays. Look at Pujara and Kohli as they have been the two best players for India in 2012. If Dravid and VVS were still playing both of them wouldn't have found a place in the side.

This should be SRT's last test - time to go. Ind need his replacement to get a feel for test cricket before we go to SA.

Ideally, SRT will retire rather than try to hang on

One would hope that he can see when to retire, and he is not forced out. By being forced out it might create some divisions with in Indian Cricket.

Dravid retired on own terms. He actually wanted to go after The Oval but was persuaded to carry on till the Oz tour. VVS was pushed.
