Dravid was in a very poor form in 2007 and 2008, both at home and on tour. In 23 tests and 44 innings, he averaged just 30 runs. But, India persisted with him for so many test matches.

Laxman has not been out of form for so long as Dravid.

Who do you give it to? And Dhoni's keeping has been fine in Aus, that isn't the problem or anywhere near it.

India's dramatic fall has coincided with the introduction of a certain wise man who is paid to help them perform better.

Dhoni was never going to be able to bat well, keep well and captain well in Tests on any long term basis.

One or more of the three will go wrong, its impossible.
Ian Bell: first England player to 10,000 Test runs.
Stuart Broad: first England player to 400 test wickets.

Pick the team then the captain from it. The Aussies always had that right.

Right now anyone would be better than Dhoni, on many levels. But on captaincy why would anyone else be a worse captain?

Lol. I've criticised Dhoni but one hand people are calling for seniors to go and then saying Dhoni too. You make Rohit captain lol? Dhoni's the best option, backing him to get it right is the best decision. Saying anyone would be better is silly.

There was a time Dhoni was positive and he wasn't afraid to act on his gambler's instincts. Now, he goes through the motions. I was surprised Tendulkar wasn't tried as a bowler for a few overs to try and break up huge partnerships between Clarke and Ponting, and Clarke and Hussey.

I think he's always been negative in tests, it just works much better in India. Also he wouldn't want to injure his best batsmen...

Tendulkar could have risked injury by bowling a couple of overs of leg-breaks and off-breaks?
