Women's T20 world cup

What's buzzing in the world of cricket....

of course England fans are going to see it is an opportunity lost/thrown away, but having just watched a fair bit of that chase, I'd like to see it more of a game that South Africa clawed victory than England bottling it. The home crowd really helped SA, and added to the occasion.

2 good semi-finals.

Of course I was keen to see SA win, looking ahead to the final.

haven't seen it, but I understand she was continually shouting and berating her team mates in the field, although they do appear to have fielded rather poorly. Smacks of the days when the England men had to stand up and apologise to the bowlers at the end of the day's play

it doesn't seem to have extended to her apologising for bowling like a drain throughout the tournament.

I'm trying to think how many successful chases there have been in this comp, other than against minnows.

A quick look and there were about 6. Four were low chases, the highest of those being Australia chasing 125 against SA in the groups. England chased 135 against WI and India chased 150 against Pakistan

In the competitive games, win the toss , bat first and if you can scrabble together a half decent sort of score, the chances are you'll win relatively easily

with the inevitability of night following day, Australia win the T20 world cup final

SA were just too slow setting off and gave themselves far too much to do

Congrats Australia, was always going to take something special to stop them.

Ash Gardner well deserved player of the series, thoroughly deserves her WIPL payday.

My team of the tournament

Healy (wk) (Aus)
Mooney (Aus)
Wolvaardt (SA)
Matthews (c) (WI)
N Sciver-Brunt (Eng)
Bates (NZ)
Gardner (Aus)
Kapp (SA)
Ismail (SA)
Schutt (Aus)
Ecclestone (Eng)

A bit top heavy, but with this many allrounders and that much depth in bowling and batting, who cares?

Honourable mentions: Dar (Pak), A Kerr (NZ), Brown (Aus), Ghosh (Ind), Lanning (Aus).

No Indian players, despite their semi-final run. No-one was particularly consistent. Mandhana had a couple of decent innings and some poor ones but wasn't as good as Healy, Mooney or Wolvaart at the top of the order. Kaur, Verma, Sharma all had a bit of a shocker. Renuka Singh did ok, but not well enough to force out one of the players I've picked.

In fact, it's between Kaur and Katherine Sciver-Brunt for biggest let-down of the tournament.

Yes indeed on both counts. The best team won. As they have made something of a habit lately :)

In terms of consistency and depth of resources they are way ahead. But I think this competition has shown that the gap isn't perhaps as big as it sometimes seems : India came very close to pipping them : SA shocked a possibly complacent England , who themselves may be only a new pace bowler and another all rounder away from challenging.

Expect more Australian wins . But all these franchise events may eventually help some other teams to narrow that gap.
