I am wondering what would have happened if Sachin had career strike rate of 80. :scared Good for team India his ODI average is 45 and SR is 86. That combo is what matters IMO.
Test FL's - 8 , ODI and Tests Combo FL's - 1, ODI World Cup - 1, ODI FL's - 7, ODI and T20i combo FL's - 1 ,
T20 Franchisee FL's - 7, T20i Cup FL's- 1, T20 FL's- 5 , 50 Overs Domestic FL's - 1, 40 Overs Domestic FL's- 1

Brave, I was using the Trott comment rather tongue in cheek, mainly because it is the best example of a public sentiment I could think of, people say tons in ODIs win matches then criticise the bloke who makes one.

And that would have been silly also. As I regularly point out in those situations.

Its a fair point.

That it is easier to chase in Bangladesh as it becomes easier to bat?

Especially when India are serving up full tosses.

Was fairly terrible bowling by India though, they are missing Yuvraj, why didn't Kohli get an over?

Don't know, he didn't bowl the game before so maybe there is a reason.

In regards to everyone that is making the 'Trott' argument - please don't be so ridiculous. Someone (Rich or AC maybe?) trotted (excuse the pun) out a statistic a few months ago which showed that England always tend to score better as a team in ODIs when Trott scores big. Thus, had Trott made such a score, it is more likely that England would be in a winning position than not. The same as India were yesterday. In a winning position. Also, anyone who did get on the back of Trott after such an innings would be more justified as it would highlight a pattern of slow scoring as opposed to a one off. Funnily enough, his innings yesterday came at almost exactly Trott's career strike rate in ODIs. Surely the fact that you all mention Trott in the same breath as Tendulkar shows how much he is valued to Team England, or perhaps it is a classic example of a fan's hype. A comparison between the two is flawed at any rate.

On an aside, feeling like I do whenever Sehwag is mentioned, I noticed a few mentioning that perhaps his century being against Bangladesh made the achievement feel devalued. I find it rather fitting that with that century, he has now completed at least one against all full members in both Test and ODI format. A fitting way to reach the milestone, I think, was to complete the collection as it were. May not sway others though.

The point was that Trott gets panned for scoring 100s like that, why shouldn't Sachin be? It wasn't even a criticism I think, more making a point about double standards.

Not that Trott is like Sachin.

I have always defended SRT but this was one knock where he cost India few runs. India though lost the match mainly because of rubbish bowling.

But in both cases it is wrong to blame them solely for the loss. So two wrongs make a right?

Double standards are not at play at all as the same who are defending SRT for not the total blame don't blame Trott alone when a similar thing occurs.

But the point is that they are incomparable. Trott may get stick, but so is SRT. The stick is wrong though as the result was not determined by that innings. Once more, if India cannot defend that score then there is something seriously wrong with them.

Why are they incomparable?

That innings was exactly the type of ODI innings Trott plays, very comparable I would say.

Absolutely India lost because of their bowlers though.

I didn't suggest they were soley to blame for losses.

Fair point as its not double standards, but that was the point been made. It was a very Trott like innings and those that do blame Trott for playing innings like that would by logical extension have to blame Sachin.

They are incomparable because of the differences in the batting line-ups. Trott doesn't have people who follow him with the same ability to really kick on. Raina, Dhoni, Rohit and IKP were still to come. With a huge amount of wickets in hand, India should have managed higher than what they finished on, but that was not necessarily to do with SRT's innings. Dhoni was not as destructive as he normally is in the last five overs of the game and arguably 20-30 runs were lost there. The thing about lost runs is that they are nothing, insignificant and merely hypothesis. However, with the score that was posted, how anyone can blame a lack of runs is beyond me.

People are blaming him. It is not a Trott v. Sachin debate as clearly there is only one winner, Sachin. Trott gets blamed unnecessarily at times, sometimes justifiably, but to suggest that this innings was at all like one of Trott's based on SR alone is a bit much.
