It's just such a simplistic analysis. It wasn't a good innings, cost India about 10-15 runs but the match? No. The bowlers did that, collectively. Along with some other factors. Should any team worth their weight be defending 290 on that pitch vs Bangladesh? Yes. We took the pitch out the equation in the last few overs

The thing is, this has built up and up due to media, idiots and fans and he admitted it had got to him. Therefore he of course wanted to get this off his back.

If he hadn't got it by attacking then we know by now what the same people would say.

Same people who call ODI's meaningless etc suddenly give the Asia Cup context when India lose. Okay then...

Devils advocate here, his innings cost indian about 10-15 runs, but not the match. But India only lost by 4 balls really, or 4 fours.

Sachin did not cost India the match, but his slow scoring played a part in India loosing the match. So what if sachin scored his first or 150th hundred. At the end of the day his team lost the match, and he played a part in that. His individual achievements should not cover up for the team achievements.

And the team failed to defend 9 over in the last 14 overs. An average attempt at anchoring the innings wasn't the sole or even the main reason for the loss, which was my point.

If Bangladesh can score at a run a ball, and Sachin can occupy 50% of deliveries and only score at 4 and a half an over. Then surely that needs looking at, I bet if Trott had of played the exact same innings he would of been criticised heavily.

Don't know, he didn't bowl the game before so maybe there is a reason.

In regards to everyone that is making the 'Trott' argument - please don't be so ridiculous. Someone (Rich or AC maybe?) trotted (excuse the pun) out a statistic a few months ago which showed that England always tend to score better as a team in ODIs when Trott scores big. Thus, had Trott made such a score, it is more likely that England would be in a winning position than not. The same as India were yesterday. In a winning position. Also, anyone who did get on the back of Trott after such an innings would be more justified as it would highlight a pattern of slow scoring as opposed to a one off. Funnily enough, his innings yesterday came at almost exactly Trott's career strike rate in ODIs. Surely the fact that you all mention Trott in the same breath as Tendulkar shows how much he is valued to Team England, or perhaps it is a classic example of a fan's hype. A comparison between the two is flawed at any rate.

On an aside, feeling like I do whenever Sehwag is mentioned, I noticed a few mentioning that perhaps his century being against Bangladesh made the achievement feel devalued. I find it rather fitting that with that century, he has now completed at least one against all full members in both Test and ODI format. A fitting way to reach the milestone, I think, was to complete the collection as it were. May not sway others though.
