you cant say that as teams approach to games would be different if they knew it was just a 4 day game

anything for a dig at the ECB tho ...

if England vs pakistan can't sell out what makes him think the WI series would.
Test cricket not looking pretty in England when you remove the london games either.

Went to renew my Yorkshire membership yesterday and sales for the West Indies test match at Headingley are good, Day 2 expected to sell out soon with strong sales for Day 1 & 3.

Depends what strong sales actually means, considering Edgebaston and old trafford strong sales was 50% full.
Although I think headingley have priced the game well, isn't the Test pass 100 pounds or something for all 5 days.

indian players not happy with the deal.
they want the wages to be way higher and closer to what english and Australian players get.

I got the impression Indian players got way more sponsorship than other teams making them the best paid players. Though it's fair enough that cricketers shouldn't have to go touting to businesses in order to get a good wage.

Shastri backs the players claims that the wages are *modded*.
http://www.espncricinfo.com/england/con ... 89866.html
think the players want to be the highest paid cricketers officially without sponsorship and ipl deals upping the amount.
want the retainers to match England and Australian players.
can't complain with that considering BCCI are the richest board in the world and essentially the players are the reason for the income for the board.

think the players want the test specialist getting more money than an ipl deal would have, so the test specialist are not so desperate for ipl deals to make money.

also 2 yrs ago a player in ranji trophy would make more money than a fringe test player.
one reason why players want the contracts to be changed so players don't get forced into ipl rather than piling runs in Ranji trophy to get picked for test cricket which doesn't even earn good money if you are in the fringes of the Test side and not good enough for ipl.
essentially the players want the likes of pujara, jayant yadav getting rewarded for being indian players and making a really good living without being reliant on IPL to make money.
also suspect the likes of Kohli want less endorsement deals and basically want to be the highest paid cricketer without the extra burden of adverts.
plus everyone getting paid the same amount is a fair deal than a selected few getting big buck because lets face it only the likes of Kohli would be getting big bucks, the rest would hardly have the same level of endorsement deals like him.
not exactly sure the system of endorsements and ipl deals being the sole provider of income for the indian players is a secure income for majority of the players, especially in the early part of the career.

Be interesting to see how it goes considering BCCI have always claimed it doesn't need a player association since it will always listen to the players and generally it has used WI as an example of why player association are not a good idea.
probably the first time ever players and BCCI have had a disagreement.
be interesting to see what actually happens considering before this the players contracts value haven't been updated for a long time since it started around 2002.
personally think the players will win, although it will have to be seen if the value matches Australia or English players wages.

Also think because most of the Test fringe side/A team are not really part of the IPL set up it is putting more pressure on making it ok playing Test cricket first than going the IPL route first.
basically it needs to be worthwhile being a test player first and T20 player 2nd.

The USE's Rohan Mustafa today became the third player after Viv Richards and Paul Collingwood to score a century and take five wickets in an ODI

seems like Kohli might get is wish since BCCI seem happy to give the money.
