It's certainly not international cricket, nor international standard, but I got a good laugh out of it.

Good to see that Jim Maxwell is back on the air following his stroke earlier this year.

I don't think that he is MS, not yet.

Last weekend, they had an interview with him and he was saying that he hopes to be back on air for the New Years' Test.

He was on the stumped podcast this week on the BBC Garlic. He said he's going to be sticking to Sydney games for the foreseeable future with the ODI there being his aim to get back in the commentary box.

Left-arm spinner Rangana Herath is set to become the oldest player to lead a Test team for the first time since Somachandra de Silva in 1983, after he was named captain of Sri Lanka for the tour of Zimbabwe because Angelo Mathews is injured.

It was probably the same interview.

I miss Jim. He has been the voice of ABC Cricket for the majority of my life. Possibly Alan McGilvray early on, but that has receded from my memory. Besides doing (imo) a fine job, it is also a comfort/reassurance thing.

Just read this: The record number of maidens bowled in ODI cricket is Shaun Pollock's 313. More than one a match.

Seems quite low. Record ripe to be broken.

23 in 56 games. A lot fewer than Clint McKay. Mitch1 has 74.

Mark Taylor is touting for four day Tests. I really don't have much time for commentators and journalists having an opinion on this. It's his job to cover these. Of course he wants four day Tests. Who doesn't want to work less for the same money? Ask the spectators.

So Starc looks to have no hope of beating Pollock's record.

Taylor could well have been speaking in his position of "independent director" (one of eight) for CA. He has been in that role for something like 12-14 years, I think. Not sure what he does there - sits back in a comfy couch and pontificates?

It looks like it's a lot harder to bowl maidens now.

This 4 day test stuff seems like nonsense to me. It sounds like a way of guaranteeing more draws, especially in a sport that can be effected by weather.

Example.... Middlesex won I think 5 games of 16 in the county championship and won the title.

I am sure people will flock to a sport that has a 30% change of a result.

It is intended that more overs will be bowled in a day!
