How good has this world cup been? Full of close games full of excitement and generally the standard has been fairly high, highly enjoying it so far!

Bangladesh again can't quite get over the line... as against England , their spin bowlers got them into a good position but couldn't sustain it to the end. Though I wonder what would have happened if that 49th over catch had been held ?

SA managed to sneak home narrowly for the second time. After their disaster against England they are now looking good for the semis - unless they slip up against Sri Lanka or Pakistan. Which I suppose is still possible...

Certainly a "must win" for the Kiwis. You'd think they will be too strong for the bottom of the table strugglers. But the way some of these matches have wobbled you never quite know...

Sri Lanka need atthapathu to bat 35 overs for them to post any sort of score that's the problem for them and she has struggled so far in this comp....devine is in ridiculous form and only a matter of time before bates and kerr fire too

So rain gets Sri Lanka a second point ... not that they didn't have a decent score on the board. But for NZ this was a bit of a disaster as they are still stuck on just 3 points with maximum possible of 9 if they win all their remaining games. Might be tough.

That said , India are somewhat precariously placed with 4 points from 4 matches ; and England and NZ , as well as the feisty though so far unsuccessful Bangladesh , to play. Just possible India v NZ could end up as an effective quarter final ? SA and Australia look locked in already ; and if England can account for Pakistan they should also make it through barring a dreadful finish to the qualifiers.

Of course , we are still missing that "major upset" that has threatened several times without actually arriving (which has helped make this event quite interesting !) . So probably shouldn't go inking anything in just yet ...

SA well placed despite the thrashing England gave them and the scare from Bangladesh. India struggling and England also only just avoiding a major upset
