Shut your eyes and think of England.

What's buzzing in the world of cricket....

There's usually a defence a long the lines of, "He was only answering the question asked" but surely Cook can't believe that. Sadly the press don't seem up to lampooning Nefas.

Apart from the nonsense he is deluding himself with, it suggests that he spent the entire tournament laughing at the team's misfortunes.

that's a nice touch

A bit surprising. With Agnew prominent, the BBC have been staunch backers of the ECB.

After taking a flamethrower to the KP debacle, Colin Graves labels the West Indies as mediocre, and demands an England win.

Even worse, he identifies Cook, who has been wilting in face of the ECB's post whitewash exposure of him as their brand leader, as the key figure to take England forward.

Yes he says "Cook is a proven test player, he is a quality player". Stats prove that I.e. 100 tests at an average of 46 and at 30 year old he should be approaching his prime. We've already seen the folly of replacing a captain when there's no obvious replacement in another form of cricket.

At the end of the day, Cook needs to go out and score runs. It's all well and good him whinging, but he's been dire for a fair old while. A poor summer may see the back of him, hard to think that it has come to this.

And so it should. At least at that stage we may well have an experienced alternative, perhaps Root or Ali. Change for change' s sake is counter productive as we've recently seen.

Steely's interview suggests he now sees himself as a victim, whose grand project, the Test side, has been damaged by the incompetence of others. As if he's never been near the ODI side. As if Morgan wasn't given the captaincy of a vessel already sinking!

Well with teams now having batting, fielding and bowling coaches, a team manager and having no say in selection is the test captain not a victim?
