Disagree with bhavesh that Ashwin and Jadeja have the ability to offer more in Tests. Both are incredibly limited cricketers who, if anything, have already over-acheived IMO. Their continued selection epitomises the depths to which India's spin stocks have fallen. Shame someone like Murali Kartik was born in the wrong era.

Ashwin's test record as an all-rounder speaks for itself really. He'a almost worth his place in the side as a batter, and his bowling has been successful - at least in home conditions

Yep, and it is terrible in overseas conditions.

Ashwin/Jaddu/Axar will be our 3 spinners in the squad imo. The ODI series versus Australia will give a clue about the playing 11.

The probables all deserved their places based on experience as well as form as far as inexpereinced are concerned. Good that Yuvi has been left out.

Good that Sehwag, Yuvi , Gauti and Harby have been left out. They have been liabilities for the team during the international matches they played in last year.

The only and major advantage even if we get beaten 0-4 is that all of these players are in ODI WC 30 probables squad. And most are from ODI likely playing 11. So they are now at least relatively more used to the climatic conditions, wickets, big ground sizes as that to those in India/Asia than other Asian teams at least. Offcourse there is more format relevant ODI Triseries, but this big test series is very much important in some aspects for preparation for WC.

Murali is in the 30's probables, and i feel he will make the ODI playing 11. Now wondering what effect it will have on batting order and team combo.
