Of those, using a dodgy memory and not having a good grasp of the timeline (as in whereabouts in a player's career this happened), I would rate the following: Alderman, Hogg, Rackeman, Rixon and maybe Yallop being the only ones with a chance in a first choice team. However, where they in the twilight of their careers anyway? Add Hughes, but he def was.

I can't recall Mick Taylor. Faulkner's best achievements have been for Tassie, after retirement, and breeding. Steve Smith was a fantastic OD player, but not sure about 1st Class. Shipperd's best efforts have been in coaching, imo. Haysman's in commentating in SA.

Maybe Border's comment was more based on where Aus cricket lay when he took over (low down, low low down), and the need for the whole country to work towards lifting it.

Yallop would have definitely got into the Aussie team. I didn't think Dyson went on the rebel tour, as he was on the 85 tour to England?

Sad news for an adopted Tasmanian (me that is, he was born here). Probably THE key member of the golden era (so far) of Tasmanian Cricket, when they won their only 3 Sheffield Shields and 3 of their 4 One Day trophies. All of these happened after I arrived in Tassie, so Hilfy is well loved and will be missed.

he plans on playing on in T20 games, maybe playing for Tassie in the one dayers (both of those will be subject to selection) and moving into coaching.

one of my favourite Aussie players. Best of luck to him

Dyson played in 81, did he tour in 1985? I remember Hilditch and Wood opening. Hogg and Yallop were seventies players at their best. Obviously Alderman came back and had that incredible tour of England in 89. Hohns did ok in that series. But Alderman might have seemed a write off as he hardly played in the mid eighties.

I'd have thought a proud and patriotic country like Australia might have been more resentful towards the rebels. England welcomed their own back without hesitation. Which still rankles with me.

Name the fifteen innings of 200 or more for England since the first day of 2000.

Without looking it up of course.

Lets try.....

Most recent is Ben Stokes in South Africa last series.
Cook scored a 275 odd against Pakistan in the series before.
Cook also beat the best score made by Bradman in an Ashes test in Australia (I think if memory servies) and got something like 240 in Brisbane in 2010/11... he was also a boundary away from a 300 vs India at Edgbaston in 2011
Root got a double against Sri Lanka in 2014

KP made one the test before that aforementioned Cook innings at Lords vs India in 2011. He also scored the double hundred at Adelaide in partnership with Collingwood...... Collingwood had been the double hundred score when KP scored 158 in the game 4 years previous. KP also scored a big one against a West Indies team somewhere in 2007. I went to the Lords test when he also scored a 100 (not double) so it wasnt there.

8...

Others, I know Graham Thorpe got one. His top score was stuck on the 140 he got at Edgbaston in 1997 for years, if I had to guess when it was, it was the away Sri Lanka series in about 2003/04 when we beat them? Not sure

Ian Bell scored one vs India in 2011

(ten)

I have just realised it was actually the NZ Series in the early 2000's that Thorpe scored his double in. It was the Nathan Astle test that makes you forget about it (and I believe the first Flintoff hundred)

Other than that, I cant name particular innings.

Trescothick got one sometime around the 2005 Ashes, but I cant remember if it was in the drawn South Africa series or 2004 New Zealand series.

Vaughan never got one.... he was out for 199 I believe against India at Headingley sometime before he retired. Out trying to hit a boundary for it. Strauss never got one.

Trott did get one, was it against Bangladesh in 2009? Now I think he scored one against Sri Lanka too...

Got 13.... I would guess Bell scored more than one? Maybe 2 or 3? Cant think of anyone else.

Prior didnt
Athers never did, certainly not in the 2000's
Stewart never did
Hick never did, neither Ramps
Hussain did, but it was in the 1997 home Ashes at Egbaston
Compton... no
Ballance and Taylor..no
Hales and Lyth...no
Bairstow and Morgan... no
Carberry...no
Bopara.... I believe he never did in that 3 century period vs Windies
Owais Shah, no.... G.Jones...no
Flintoff...no
Mark Butcher had a best of 173 at Headingley in 2001

Cant think

The only other guess other than missing a potential second from Bell, is how many did Trott get in the famous fix game vs Pakistan at the Oval. Broad got 170 odd and didnt top score, and iirc he had a huge partnership with Trott.

Put me out my misery

I knew you'd crack this Sussex. Or Ginger.

1. Graham Thorpe, 200*, Christchurch, 2000.
2. Marcus Trescothick, 219 v South Africa, The Oval, 2003.
3
4. Paul Collingwood, 206, Adelaide, 2006.
5
6. Jonathan Trott, 226 v Bangladesh, Lord's 2010.
7. Alastair Cook, 235*, Brisbane, 2010.
8. Kevin Pietersen, 227, Adelaide, 2010.
9. Jonathan Trott, 203 v Sri Lanka, Cardiff, 2011.
10. Kevin Pietersen, 202* v India, Lord's, 2011.
11. Alastair Cook v India, 294, Birmingham, 2011.
12. Ian Bell, 235 v India, The Oval, 2011.
13. Joe Root, 200* v Sri Lanka, Lord's, 2014.
14. Alastair Cook, 263, Abu Dhabi, 2015.
15. Ben Stokes 258, Cape Town, 2016.

Two to get, including the one I though people might struggle with. There's a double from an England legend too.

Great effort. I'll leave it a few minutes and fill in the gaps.

Between 2003-2006?
England toured Windies 2003-04, but it was a low scoring series (the Harmison series) until Lara blew it out the water with 400.
England played New Zealand and South Africa in 2004-05 before the Ashes. I think Strauss carried England in both series, but never scored a 200.
Ashes 2005 - I cant remember a double
2005-2006 was Pakistan away.... now, Tresco made a huge score early in that series, but I doubt huge enough
Was is Sri Lanka after that? Switch hit series for KP, no double though.
2006 home to Pakistan, cant remember anyone.

As stated, KP scored one in 2007 vs Windies.... thats the gap there, but I dont know where it was.

I cheated on the other ( I wont spoil) but yes, I remember that now but that is a tough one
