"Probably if you look at the state of things today you can count on one hand the number of ongoing investigations and even with that small number it’s doubtful whether more than one or two will result in charges being laid."

Swann and Blowers advertising betting on cricket in every other advert break. Botham did as well in the last 2 Ashes.

Given the current climate I think that's pretty irresponsible of anyone with a high cricket related profile.

One thing that bugs me although someone may be able to tell me why as I haven't exactly been following the story much, but why does someone who has openly come out about it and admitted to it get a life ban, but those that are caught in the act only get banned for a matter of years?

It's all about the scale of these things. Vincent was a serial fixer and brought other players into it.

Yes I constantly think the same thing and in other sports and other aspects of those sports. It would appear they are encouraging people to not come forward and admit their guilt. Take for example Marion Jones admitting guilt and then going to prison, and how the blokes that ratted on Armstrong got a 6 month ban, but he got life. There is no and never will be any consistency when it comes to law.

I don't think it just applies to sport either and is becoming more common place in society to not admit fault. I think it was Donald Trump I saw interviewed once that said saying sorry is a sign of weakness.

By the way, same guy that thinks Obama is not American.

For me O'Brien got it spot on. It is far too easy to say "Sorry". Vincent hasn't exactly lost anything.

He's not allowed to have anything to do with cricket though. That includes coaching.

I have heard that if he is playing in the bark yard with his kids he may serve prison time.

Heard that to Steve, and if he's in the sporting section in K-Mart he can not look at any cricket bats. :facepalm
