He is cheap. After failing to avoid total punishment , he is still trying to get the sentence reduced. Would he opt for hard work in jail to get sentence reduced ? I doubt that. The better comfortable way to reduce the sentence is apologize and act like helping ICC ACU. Tell them how he was contacted and who gave him money, which court already knows after such lengthy and well fought case.

Ian Chappell commenting about match fixing again, which is largely pointless unless you've got some evidence.

Though if the ICC couldn't find evidence that the Sydney Test v Pakistan was dodgy, can you hope they ever will?

Asif admits that the spot fixing story was true and is asking the PCB if he can play again. Presumably after his ban. He actually appealed twice after the initial conviction.

I'm not sure I completely agreed with the initial calls for life bans, but I definitely now feel that Asif and Butt should be banned from all forms of cricket for life. They both lied through their teeth at every chance and it is only now they have run out of options have they come clean. They should be dragged back to the UK and put on trial for perjury.

He wants to play international cricket again. Which has to be unrealistic.

Dont know. Charge doesnt stop him playing and maybe they wont be too harsh on him for not wistleblowing. No suggestion that he has done anything wrong at all except keep quiet.

Maybe Asif can be brought back to the UK and charged with perjury after denying it in court.

Should definatly get a ban, IF he knew about it and didn't report. But nothing too severe, a few months or something.

Apparently he's a bookie who may not associate with the BCCI for 5 years. I thought gambling was illegal in India so why is he allowed any association with the BBCI at all.
