I guess we can take comfort in the fact that Gould in his short time hiring managers at Bristol City, made a great choice in sticking by Nigel Pearson for so long despite them doing rubbish with a fancied side. Pearson was a great manager after all. His CV is impeccable.

Finished in CU's worst ever position since the 4 league pyramid was implemented
Sacked from Southampton after relegating them to the 3rd tier for the first time in 50-60 years
Sacked from Leicester after nearly relegating them, his replacement won the league the PL following year
Finished 11th with the favourite team for promotion at Hull
Sacked from Derby after a few days because he fell out with the board for their use of new technologies in training.
Nearly relegated OH Leuven to the amateur division when they were bookies run away favourites to win the Belgian 2nd league title
Relegated Watford

I guess it was too easy to sack him. Gould took on the challenge.

Pearson hasn't been hired in a role since.

Lucky to get Bobby Gould though, with his considerable success in team management...

I don't think Gould did well generally in football management, but that final lives on as one of the greatest underdog achievements in sporting history.

Gould's point about not being football was also pretty laughable. It's true that you have people a chance for their decisions and grand strategies to take hold, but I think we have passed the 4 year anniversary of Bazball now, and the away Ashes series was the long term objective. That objective has failed, as have the secondary high profile objectives along the way. Trying to argue this would be a knee-jerk response to hold those accountable for the failure of their long term aims makes zero sense whatsoever. As is trying to argue that we always sack everyone and nothing changes. You can't really argue against any of the sackings, they were all warranted in the context of their time and how the team were performing.

N'hants coach Darren Lehmann says England staff do not watch CC.

There's a lot of good county players that could have been on the tour if they'd probably seen and took notice of them a little bit more

Meanwhile Gould comes out to defend England over a rising ex-player rebellion, the latest Dave Willey, to say all is good and normal dropped players feel confused and enraged about being dropped. He wouldn't have it anyway, its excellent....He then underlines the whole new England "all about the counties" thing to say even if these players had problems, there are 28 centrally contracted players to manage and the focus, way too much time to bother about other people. Not part of the system, pfft... you can f*ck off.....

Extremely well briefed, Gould. Willey's complaint was he was told his contract was cut because he wasn't needed, he then played 4 games in a WC performing as per Michael Vaughan as England's best bowler in the tournament, but how dare he expect any explanation from the management.

Brendon McCullum needs a holiday every week, how dare he expect him to take 30 minutes out to check up on a player with 100 plus caps for his country.

Gould was also pressed on when his Excellency Brendon of McCullumshire would grace his employers with his presence and do some work, but Gould didn't know, after all *giggles* "I dont monitor his plane bookings" *giggles*. He's currently on walk about ensuring no further advanced over planning will occur in the future, so when he feels the opportune moment arrives to have dossed enough to have reached peak efficiency, he will return in all his grandeur..... I wonder how many employees' whereabouts are unknown to their employer when they earn 2 million quid.

This idiotic, gigantic failure of a charlatan at this point is just mocking the English game. I reckon he must sit on the beach every night with a cocktail and a sexy girl on his arm, p*ssing himself at the fact after 4 years Dumb and Dumber still line up to defend him, while he just goes on holiday and does f*ck all.

I can just imagine him now somewhere in a beach hut in Tonga explaining to some other tourist, "I sh*t you not mate, they keep paying me. All I do is fail, and that's when I can be arsed to turn up, but look at my bank account".

I guess this is only possible when you have a boss with one badly functioning brain cell... oh wait!

I guess there is still a fringe of people loyal to Bazza, but the patience for this constant b*llocks is running out generally. We can debate the merit of strategy, tactics, pathway approaches, player development models and god knows what else..... What we cannot debate is, you get nowhere with a work project being on holiday. You actually have to work....

The fact he thinks its acceptable to do this after a huge failure of his masterplan, and in a period of trying to win hearts and minds, probably shows that he has as many brain cells as his bosses...

I have a feeling that he planned to return to work a matter of days (maybe 10.... might have been 5?) before England's first test match in the summer, but has since agreed to return a bit earlier than that

Thanks, Baz :?

Reece Topley joins the rebels.... remarking to the Cricketer that Liam Livingstone's assessment of the management is, if anything, too generous....
