Yes, it has taken me some time to understand this format.

I think it goes: top three from each group are now joined with another group, and they bring the points/NRR they earnt against the two other teams in their original group But it gets confusing with who they pay - Aus played Sri Lanka and Ireland in the group stages, then go on to play South Africa (last night, Aus win) and Windies in the "super six" stage, but THEY DON'T lok like they are going to play the one other team in the SS group - Afghanistan. Why, I don't know.

As the top two from each of the SS groups go through to the final, it looks like Australia is almost certain to qualify already

Interesting climax bubbling up between Aus and WI U19.

A good win to Australia - in that they had to work hard for it. First toss (I think) they lost so had to bat first for the first time in the tournament. It was good for them to have all of the batters getting a chance at the crease - I was thinking the other day that they might hit the finals with the middle order having spent zero minutes at the crease, but the Windies helped out here.

It looks like a good bet that Aus will play England in a semi-final.

Replaced by Scotland. Now Pakistan might pull out too.

Feels like this is the cricket equivalent of Davos. Its quite obvious now that cricket has become whatever the BCCI says it is, and will be geared towards making them as much money as possible at the detriment of actual sport. Those boards that still believe sucking up to the BCCI is in their long term interests are deluded. We are already seeing Indian money buy up our domestic game, so we are probably already passed the point of no return.

Chances of anyone making a stand with BD? Zero of course. So the cycle will continue. Nevertheless, I reckon if we had all nations refuse to go to India and make a stand, the BCCI would have to respond. Hit them where it hurts... in the pocket!

England and Australia are part of the triumvirate, alongside the BCCI helping each other to hoover up all the money in cricket, so they won't boycott anything. It'll have to be up to the 'middle powers' again.... where's Canada when you need them?

Well, only from the first stage. One point from a rain off. Which they don't take forward.

I was reading that if Pakistan beat India tomorrow, then England will face Afghanistan in the semi's. If India win, their superior run rate means they will face Afghanistan and England will face Australia

yes, that's what I had seen, looking at the table and games.

It makes tomorrow's game very interesting. For a complete turnaround (especially for India/Pakistan matches), I will be going for India.

Weird qualification in this event. Of first round results , just the two against fellow qualifiers carried forward , then in Super Six all play only two matches - with the first round group winners not meeting. So they might almost have just had group winners straight to the semis , given the huge advantage this format gave them. Unless Pakistan pull off an unlikely absolute annihilation of India in the last game , those 4 sides will indeed make up the semis. Which to be fair was likely whatever system was employed.
