Today, Afghanistan's Allah Ghazanfar achieved his second ODI five-for, finishing with 5-33 against Zimbabwe, who were dismissed for 127 in the third ODI.
The 19-year-old has had a great start to his career and made his ODI debut earlier this year. In 11 games, the off-spinner has taken 21 wickets at an average of 13.57. In the format, he takes a wicket every 20 balls and has already claimed two five-fors, the most recent of which was on Saturday against Zimbabwe
In seven ODI matches, Ghazanfar has taken at least one wicket, including three or more on four occasions. He has taken a five-for twice, the first time being last month when he scored 6-26 against Bangladesh.
Only two players have previously been able to match his incredible start. The only two players to record multiple ODI five-fors before turning 19 are Waqar Younis and Rashid Khan. Only seven players have taken five wickets in the format before turning 19, with Mujeeb Ur Rahman, an Afghanistan player with one five-for, ranking third.
The only two bowlers to average less than 15 were Rashid (14.74) and Ghazanfar (13.57), who also had the highest bowling average of any player who took at least 20 ODI wickets before turning 19. Rashid is once again in second place with a strike rate of 22.2 prior to turning 19, while Ghazanfar has the greatest strike rate of 20.
