But of course 2 list A games against England lions is the same or a short tri series is the same as having 2 or 3 first class games + 5 list A games England lions get in the winter.

no surprise that ECB can't even find games for the lions anymore in the winter.
They haven't even announced any games yet.
be jokes if Sri lanka pulls out of the supposedly lions deal in march.

So I must have dreamt up the Sri Lanka A and Pakistan A triangular series that was hosted by the Lions in July 2016.....in England... or the Sri Lanka A tour of England in 2014.

Don't see Sri lanka A playing first class games against england lions in england during 2016.
or in 2014.
All they got was list A games.

Next year will be the first time lions played a first class game against an A team for a very long time at home.

Yeah england were great host right that Sri lanka and pakistan played more games against each other than england, or in 2014 sri lanka essentially played more games against Ireland, Counties and New Zealand then actually facing England and one of the games Sri lanka had no idea which team they were facing since the counties couldn't play the game last minute because of other commitments and lot of the county games were shambles with the counties either arriving the night before late so the county barely played anyone strong enough for the A team.

but of course all this doesn't matter since england lions have got what they wanted the winter before in Sri lanka or pakistan.
Actually quite refreshing to see teams saying no to the lions now, like i said ages ago the lions set up and the ECB board are quite selfish at times.

no surprise CA and BCCI will not do anything with ECB unless they get something out of it as well.

The only time I seen ECB offer a deal was when they said to CA that if you provide a strong warm up games for England in Australia we will provide strong warm up games in england for the australian side after the english side complained about CA warm up games in the last ashes series in Australia.

Isn't funny that the counties could field strong sides for the Ashes warm up in the 2015 but can't do it for other teams.
what do people usually say that the ECB have no role in the teams picked for the warm ups but ECB made an agreement CA for Strong teams for warm ups and suddenly bam Kent, Essex and Northampton picked a very strong team for the warm up games.

Australia hardly got a team full of 2nd 11 or players with no first class experience in 2015.

Before anyone mentions the poor teams in 2012 for india they really need to check the teams put out by india.
even the claim of no specialist spinner is wrong with Mishra playing one of the games lol.

India A.
Mukund Test player
M Vijay Test player
Rahane Test player
Yuvraj Singh Test player
Suresh Raina Test player
Manoj Tiwary india fringe player
Saha Test player
pathan Test player
Vinay Kumar fringe player
Dinda fringe player
Awarna fringe player

Mumbai A had
Dhawan
Pujara
Suraykumar Yadav

BCCI even loaned players from other states to give England a stronger team, although the bowling line up was a bit weak.

Harayna team was strong though and actually faced 2 proper spinners in Amit Mishra and jayant yadav.
http://www.espncricinfo.com/india-v-eng ... 65803.html

but of course everyone still think england faced no spinners.

out of all the teams think Mumbai had the weaker team and if i remember correctly they had 2 games at the same time ranji trophy was going on at the same time.

Kent, Essex and Northants are considerably stronger fixtures for South Africa compared to England's warm up fixture against South Africa Invitational XI, an equivalent standard of 2nd XI/Minor Counties Cricket.

I think this argument can be summed up completely by the comment about Mumbai in the last point.

You spend 100's of words complaining about England not giving strong touring teams to face for opposition, then seem to justify Mumbai fielding a weak side on the basis they had fixtures in domestic competitions going on. So county teams dont have fixtures in the middle of summer to play too? And Lions teams dont take key players out of county teams in live games? Er.... I think they do...

Its not that I care about it either. Part of touring is conquering what the home team throws at you. If you AGREE between teams to not try certain tactics, then absolutely fine. The ECB and CA decided they wanted to do that. The fact the BCCI and ECB havent.... who gives a ****!!! I dont. Get on with it.

You seem to assume that this is all the ECB's fault based on a simple prejudice and misconception.

The fact that you cannot acknowledge that English domestic cricket has historically, and continues to be, the only worldwide form of 4 day cricket that gives opportunities regularly all the time to foreign players to have long term experience in English conditions is baffling to me.

Once England have had 100 test players represent Ranji Trophy teams, India might be able to complain about England's lack of opportunities to Indian players.

difference was mumbai had 2 games going on at the same time.
not the same thing happening in england is it.
not sure a county ever played county cricket at the same time as a warm up game.

or you cannot acknowledge that the same amount of foreign players don't play county cricket anymore and probably wont in the future especially from the Sub Continent, even you cannot find the reason for why pakistani or Sri lankan players don't participate.

Well it looks like BCCI and ECB have gotten on with it with England not getting any warm up games for the Test matches.

Anyway the England cricket team are the ones losing out with limited lions playing programme and no warm up games in India.
lions cannot even announce winter fixture yet with them having issues finding possible teams to play against. :point

If you watched the Sri Lanka series earlier this summer it's pretty clear why counties aren't that interested in the Sri Lankan players, top Sri Lankan players have played over here in the past, but they are a little thin on the ground at present.

Most Counties are looking for an overseas player that offers a certain set of skills that can play all summer, that is an increasingly narrowing pool especially compared to the past. Also only one overseas player is allowed in LVCC and the tightening of regulations have reduced the opportunities for overseas players. Also many players are now looking for the biggest pay day in their free time rather than the best developmental opportunity, and the LVCC is no longer the best pay cheque a player can pick up for obvious reasons.

Pretty obvious therefore why the same number of overseas players don't play in the County Championship, and a very moot point. The fact remains that the English domestic game has more overseas players in it, than any other top level first class cricket competition. Historically it has helped develop a huge number of players from all round the world and you'll find many players who are viewed as a County's player over being a international player.
