Looks like we're set for an ODI championship to go with all the World Cricket Leagues. Sounds promising. Still 3 years away though.

A more realistic proposal than the two tiered test proposal and a proactive way in boosting the global game, hopefully this means the 2023 World Cup will have more than 10 teams.

Given all the talk about the advantages that modern batsmen have, interesting to see that none of them can match what Albert Trott managed over 100 years ago.

Jimmy Anderson doubtful for first Pakistan test.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

As of yesterday there is at least one Test match every day for the next month.

Rare home Test series for Zimbabwe tomorrow as NZ visit for a two Test encounter. Kane Williamson takes over as permanent skipper. Hoping that the Kiwis win this, though it's a unusual for them not to be in the role of the underdog.

6-fer for Wagner and Boult continues to struggle for form. Boult seems to have reached a peak about the time of the last WC, and not been the same since. His figures stand up reasonably, but don't suggest the player he one looked. In that time, Wagner has only been given four Tests, but has averaged 20.

Regular bowling with Lancashire will have helped.

Very high averages on that list. Santner, Wagner and KW stand out well.

I think it has something to do with the type of willow used. I seem to remember (not that I was there, you understand) that they used to use brown willow (or something like that) for bats in days gone by, which was much more dense (and probably heavier to wield) than the white willow used today (if indeed it is white willow).

I might have made all of that up, because I haven't checked, but I have it in the back of my mind that it was something like that

probably worth some further research, when I have more time
