Shut your eyes and think of England.

What's buzzing in the world of cricket....

With no fta, the game will die, and the vast proportion of the public is unable to see the national team. How did the national cricket team get to be owned by Sky? The counties can do what they like, but the England side belongs to the nation. Saying cricket can't survive on fts is propaganda- it did until 2006.

Yep which is why ecb have changed their tune recently.
They certainly panicking now but I hope Arthur you not expecting a lot of FTA cricket live.

National team got brought because ecb and giles Clarke were the most stupid people ever they gave the advantage and bargaining power to sky which then they used to blackmail ecb for a long time and was impossible to get out of until bt sports came along

Sky basically call the shot since apart from them no one else wanted rights not even FTA channel since ecb never really made cricket marketable not even highlights.

ecb were so bad they even gave sky the exclusive highlights slot of 8pm forced FTA channels to only show games at 7.00 pm which itv and bbc didn't like they wanted it another time bbc wanted 8pm on bbc 2 and itv was 10.30 after the news so only five were interested.

Just never understood why Ecb would alienate bbc and itv like this.

This doesn't even include the Stanford mess and having petty argument with bcci which I blame for the main reason of the big 3 right now.

I hope ecb have learnt they mistake that they need competition for tv right and they should listen to other broadcaster and create packages which creates the most money and ensures 2-3 broadcasters wanting rights.
Never understood how they even created a scenario where itv and bbc are not interested in cricket when they mostly always put a bid in most sports rights but not always win them but they always hope they may get some because of the FTA effect.
Not even that they didn't even bid for rights that are protected by law, which is shocking since itv and bbc own 95% of it apart from cricket and Horse racing which bbc did for a long time.

How the hell did giles Clarke be in charged for so long, the bad news is he will be the next president of icc after Srini. It Is saying something when Srini is a better chairman than you.

Looks like Giles Clarke is going to stay. The Chairman job will be split into two, and Graves will take over. Clarke will be President, a job (as far as I can see) can't be tested by re-election. Is anyone thinking about Vladimir Putin here?

So we've got a Chief Executive, a President and a Chairman.

Who be going to be the Emperor?

The next broadcasting deal will be decided with Clarke still at the ICC.

Hopefully Clarke's role will just be an honourary one and Graves can get on with returning cricket back to the fans.

The ECB is worse than many tin pot dictatorships. There is zero accountability for results and the company men are well rewarded.

I laugh at Clarke being involved in a new role for himself, and coming up with the term President.

You're given a new project at work. I'll call myself President then.

But someone else is the chief executive. So how is a CEO different?

I only heard Count Downton was CEO from him.

Easier said than done. Sky are paying lots of money for this. If it were to transfer to terrestrial TV there would be a sharp drop in income for the ECB resulting in some counties potentially going to the wall.

So they say. Cricket also can't afford just to be on Sky, who are bankrolling cricket's journey into oblivion.

I think Labour hired consultants to come to the same conclusion in their last term, that some games should be on fta, but the Tories buried it on coming into power.
