Before the match Imran Khan called him "a bold and daring" captain, so is the perception of him that negative at home?

He was captain because Pakistan had no better options. He has fitness issues as he put on noticeable weight which affected his performance. Didn't lead the team with his performances. Keeps on shouting at his players whenever there is a fiekding mistake.. Then came the racist comments in SA series. The defeat to India was final blow imo. We will know soon once WC is over and they announce squad for ODI series.

Even Mickey Arthur and Inzi might be sacked as well. IK also mentione din his retweet prior to match that Pak should opt for batting first and avoid selecting "Railu Kattas". Railu Katta is someone who cannot score runs nor take wickets. Something like non performing bits and pieces under performer.

Its very easy to slag the captain off, but its hardly like this is a team thats greatly under performing on the sum of their parts. Its not a great team, and I am not sure what selections they are making that wrong. You can maybe fault the odd one, but the fact is that Pakistan dont have the talent at the moment, and sure as hell dont seem like a team that can stand up to the likes of India.

The situation never seems that healthy with cricket in the country, its been dysfunctional at best for years, so pinning the blame on Sarfraz seems a bit rich. They did win the CT in 2017 by beating the best two teams in the world, and that in hindsight was an achievement that Sarfraz should get a lot of respect for.

And is there anyone capable of replacing him? The three names mentioned on your poll are all players who are test specialists, I think only Shah has played a ODI this year, and was hit out the squad (terrible record in ODI)

Yes, this team is not that good. The pace bowling attack is still not sorted. The batting order lacks consistency as has always been the case with Pakistan batting lineup.

The domestic system is not producing quality cricketers anymore. Having said that Sarfraz too is one of them in ODI format and he is a mis fit in terms of his own performance as well as his issues as a captain. Just checked that his ODI batting average is 34.50 with strike rate of 88.06. It is a below par combination of batting average and strike rate for the players of his time.

He wanted seniors like Hafeez and Shoiab and he got them in WC. That too has backfired. Mickey Arthur also supported his decissions during his tenure as coach of Pakistan cricket team. Now inspite of all the support in strategy and selections if the own performance and teams performance is below par then he needs to be accountable. imo the India- Pakistan loss will result in him getting sacked as captain. The other way to give Pakistani fans quite is just drop Hafeez and Shoaib and make big news by picking some youngster and create a wave that this team is now moving forward. That may be one option to save Mickey and Sarfaraz if the PCB wants to save them.

He is their only likely option as of now to develop as captain for next WC.
