De-Villiers, Viv and Sachin are vying for second place.

and I would be going for Viv amongst those - purely on memory and romance. A view of some stats could vary that opinion.

His strike rate was miles ahead of time....and he had a very good average. Definitely the best of his era

Best T20i innings by Virat imo. Even he said so during the post match presentation. He rated it better than Mohali innings against Australia considering the magnitude of this game. Those two sixers of Harris Rauf had a significant impact in the win. From 46 runs of 42 balls, he accelerated to 82 of 53 balls.

Just one of those players you will look back on in decades time, and smile because you got to witness him play at his pomp.

Todays ton at Ahmedabad is Virat's first after 2019. Been a long wait as he is on a decline.

not as long a wait as Bavuma, though. His century was his first in 7 years, so maybe there's a bit more life left in Kohli yet

One clear advatage for Virat over other Indian and even other team players is his impecabble fitness. If he stops his decline of runs in test matches since 2019 then he has the fitness to play for few nore years. Ao yes, Virat does has lot of life provided he recovers the test form.

Sometimes one good score is all you need to turn round a bad run. But given the pitch, match situation etc. that was hardly a vintage innings.

Sometimes.

David Warner was disappointed by his form after his double hundred in the last test v SA.

As were all Australia fans.

Equals Sachin's record of 49 ODI tons. :salute

Virat scored them in 277 innings whereas Sachin scored in 451 ODI innings.

I confess to thinking that his best ODI years were behind him, but he's completely turned that around in this tournament. If asked, I would have said exactly the same thing about Rohit, but he also seems to be back to somewhere near his best. Maybe their respective returns to form have been helped by the respective returns to form of the other? Rohit free to express himself because he knows Kohli is there in good touch to cover for him if it goes wrong and Kohli because he's often been given a platform from which to build by Rohit

a heck of an achievement.

It will be a long time before anyone is considered a better all-format batsman than Kohli.

Given a choice of the pair of them in their prime, I think I would opt for Kohli over Tendulkar, even in the test arena.
