Don't get the idea that Cook's position is vulnerable. He averages 46, and while his form is patchy, it's better than it was. If anyone in the side will score runs in India, it's him (and Root). And if he fails, he'll probably just be another body in the cemetery. His Ashes record is generally poor other than the 3-1 win, and it's never bothered anyone before. He feels to me to have the unassailability of the queen.
