Plenty of time for this to resolve itself.

I could take my vote off MM and he'd still be in a qualifying spot, but I can't give it to Steyn, as I've already voted for him. And there's no point giving it to my preferred others, as Hadlee and Lillee are nowhere.

So we have a number eleven.

Sehwag
Gavaskar
Richards
Lara
Tendulkar

Gilchrist
Warne

Marshall
McGrath

Australia, West Indies and India with three each. No one else on the board.

Please vote for the number six here:

Maybe a Pakistani cricketer can beak the cartel. but plenty of West Indians, Indians and Aussies in the picture.

Steyn and Wasim will figure in the shake up for the other bowler. Haven't decided how to choose them yet. I guess Murali will be in.

perhaps the final spot should go to whoever gets voted for as the best of the most recent crop of internationals (current, or within the last 5 years, say). I suppose when selecting the best this and the best that, instinctively one looks backwards, but surely there is a cricketer out there, still playing, or recently retired, who will qualify as one of the greats?

AC would be much better at coming up with names than I would

There were a few recent players. It's a good point that there may be some newer players who just haven't had the chance to get the numbers so far. Maybe I'll set the minimum wickets a bit lower and pick up some newer names. But I did that, and I got Ryan Harris, Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Asif... Really the noughties bowlers deserve a bit of positive discrimination as there was a scoring spike in that decade.
