Or Allenby. But no one would vote for them I didn't think? Or Hogan. Or even Tom Smith. I picked people who performed somewhere near the bigger stories of the season.

Fair enough, Footitt and Gidman shouldn't be in on that account. I thought Footitt's number of wickets was too extraordinary to ignore, but maybe I would have been more consistent leaving him out. As I implied, I'm sure others could make a better list.

Whilst Lyth seems the obvious choice, I'd actually go for Rashid. Lyth might have scored heavily at the top of the order, but I reckon it was Rashid's phenomenal number of runs scored down the order that really killed other teams off. Whenever teams may have felt they perhaps had a sniff of getting back into the game, Rashid snuffed it out, and then more often than not, followed that up by killing them with the ball in their second innings as well.

True, and although keepers are often heard on the pitch, they seldom are off it.
